Sunday, June 29, 2014

A lovely Sunday. A day spent almost entirely outside. Mini-golf, coolattas (Grace and Emma's first one), time spent in the garden harvesting our first zucchini and lots of time spent outside playing. After dinner Dave and I sat on the porch in our rocking chairs taking it all in and chatting while the girls played. We were outside 'till dark and only came in 'cause we were all good and tired. What a lovely ending to a lovely weekend. xo

Family Night

Anyone who knows us knows that Friday nights are sacred family time. It's rare for us to plan a night with friends on a Friday night, or for one of us to be away from the family that night. Sure, there are times were it can't be avoided, but on the whole those times are very rare. Needless to say, Friday is routinely when we make pizza and watch a movie. Unless of course it's summer and the concerts are in full swing, in which case we swap out the movie for the concert. So, with this in mind, and with the idea that it would be fun to branch out beyond movies (in the non-summer) we have decided to rename this night Family Night. It's a good night this Family Night of ours and I look forward to seeing all its variations for many years to come! xo

{This Moment} On Summer Solstice

{This Moment} - A Soule Mama Friday ritual. A single  photo - no words- capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. If you are inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments section for all to find and see. We wish you a very sweet weekend! xo

In The Garden

We are just over the moon at how well the garden is doing this year! These raised beds are proving to be a very wise choice as everything is growing with ease. The plants are flourishing and we are starting to see small vegetable appear (peppers, zucchini, cucumbers). It won't be long before this garden is bursting with wonderful produce (with more than just lettuce, that is)! If anyone local is in need of lettuce please feel free to stop by and take some. We have more than enough!

Morning, Noon And Night

Morning, noon and night...three little peeks into our day.

So excited to be signing up for Summer Soul Camp with my friend Jannine! We love to do online workshops together and this one sounds simply divine!

If you would like to play along leave your link in the comments section so I can stop by for a visit!

A Perfect Summer Day

We spent the morning at a (new to us) lake with some dear friends where there was much swimming and digging and sand castle building and chatting and oohing and ahhing over the water lilies. We followed this up with some lunch and ice cream at Kimball Farm. and more playing and more chatting before finally heading home. What a great way to spend a gorgeous Tuesday! xo

Yesterday we got up bright and early (even waking the girls up- which is something we don't often do) and headed out for a roadtrip. Our family was gathering in New Jersey for a belated Father's Day celebration and we didn't want to miss out on the fun! We had planned to be down there for the whole weekend but do to some unforseen circumstances we decided it would be wiser to do this trip in one day.
It was on this trip that the van hit 100,000 miles. We were just outside Terrytown when this happened and I was impressed I was able to get this picture from over in the passenger seat.
Emma was very intrigued with the chess set at Dave's parents place. She asked her papa to teach her to play. Dave says she's off to a great start!
While Dave and Emma were playing chess Grace and I helped Grandma Joan in the kitchen.
I absoltuely love this picture that Denise took of us!
The sidewalk chalk that we brought along was a huge hit!
These are three cool chicks that I wish we got to see way more often!
Sparklers are always fun.
All the kids hanging out.
This fabulousness is a cake. And it is as delicious as it is gorgeous.
And even though we were all sufficiently stuffed from a delicious lunch we still all managed to make room for dessert!

What an absolutely glorious day! Our trip down was a breeze (the return trip left a wee bit to be desired as there was some serious road construction we encountered in Connecticut). Regardless, Dave and I agreed that going down and back in one day was not terrible at all! It was so lovely to spend a Sunday with the family! We were happy to get to see everyone and missed those who were not able to be there yesterday. Thanks everyone for such a lovely day! We can't wait to visit again soon! xo
