A Visit With Grandpa Gene And Uncle Grant

Yesterday we were excited to have my father and brother come for a visit. They arrived just before dinner and then spent the night since they had a business meeting in Boston today.
I just wish I had thought to record my dad reading this book to the girls. Who knew he can do Darth Vader's voice so well!?
This morning we enjoyed a lovely breakfast of French Toast Casserole topped with our homemade maple syrup, of course. They were really impressed with our finished product and we promised we'd invite them up to see the process first hand next sugar season.
Before leaving for Boston Uncle Grant showed his nieces some money that he brought home from his recent travels to Italy and Ireland. Having never been to either country it was really neat to get to hold foreign currency in our hands!
 Assorted coins from the UK.
Euros that he brought back from Italy.
It was really neat to feel how heavy some of them were.
It was such a treat to have the guys with us, even if it wasn't for nearly long enough! Thanks for coming to visit us daddy and Grant! We can't wait to see you again- soon! xo

Weekending

Friday was a fun filled day that brought a morning adventure with dear friends to the EcoTarium followed by a super fun birthday party with some of our dearest friends that evening.

On Saturday while Dave and Emma were doing the food shopping, Grace and I decided that we'd walk to the local diner in town for some breakfast (the french toast was incredible). It was so lovely to be able to have that time together just the two of us! From the moment we left the house until the moment we returned she did not stop talking! Saturday evening found us gathering with friends once again but this time we were celebrating a birthday and a karate achievement. On our way to their house we passed a sign for the Unicorn Golf Course, and I'm sure you can imagine the kind of conversations that we had in the car upon seeing that!

Finally, after two fun filled days Sunday arrived and it was decreed by Emma that we all needed a "lazy day". We channeled our inner sloths and found ourselves doing a whole lot of nothing for the majority of the day. And while we missed being at church I have to admit that after a couple of busy days a day in our jammies was just what we all needed (even Gretchen was down with this idea)!

We hope that you all had a lovely weekend with just the right mix of fun and relaxation! It's hard to believe that the end of June is upon us, and I have to admit that with how fast these days keep passing us by I am so very grateful for the chance to slow down, reconnect and recharge! xo

{This Moment} Backstage

{This Moment} - A Friday ritual. A single  photo  - no words- capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. If you are inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments section for all to find and see. We wish you a wonderful weekend! xo

On Summer Solstice

Our Summer Solstice day started with copious amounts of rain. With how torrential the rain was and how long it lasted we were pretty sure that our plans to celebrate Summer Solstice were going to have to be put on hold. You can imagine then how surprised we were when the rain stopped, the sky cleared, the sun came out and our evening celebration was able to go off without a hitch! We packed a picnic dinner and joined our dear friends the Faddens for the Summer Solstice Celebration that was taking place at the Old Manse in Concord as part of Riverfest 2015. Crafts, music, s'mores, playing, singing, lanterns and boats on the river on a gorgeous night made for a truly lovely ending to our Summer Solstice! xo
