A Belated Galentine's Day

Though Galentine's Day is traditionally celebrated the day before Valentine's Day, Grace and her friends got together to celebrate this most auspicious of days! What is Galentine's Day, you ask?
While Grace and her friends did not get together for breakfast they did get together to celebrate friendship with charcuterie boards. Each one made a different themed board (Grace's was chocolate, in case you could not tell) and they all gathered and enjoyed an evening of yummy food and laughter. I hope this becomes a thing they do each year! xo

My TBR Pile

My To Be Read (TBR) pile continues to grow, though to be fair, I am currently reading three of them right now (All Creatures Great and Small, Marmee and A Year in the Life of the Yorkshire Shepherdess). xo

Seventeen

The chair found a new home in Emma's room when the tree was in this spot and has remained there since. Rather than bring it down, we put the gifts in its spot and Emma decided that she'd rather open them from her cozy spot on the couch.
Birthday girl.
Gifts from Grace. Lip balm and
a book she had been wanting.
It contains the artwork of a game that both Grace and Emma play.
Next up, something sweet, or maybe we should say something spicy (kinda like our girl Emma),
in the form of black licorice (from Sweden).
Emma loves black jellybeans and black licorice so we went in search of somethign that felt a little more festive in honor of her birthday

A gift from daddy.
You'll see it better in the next picture. 😊

And one final gift.

In the hopes that she'll stop obsconding with the one that David gave me for Christmas.

A cozy blanket from the Vermont Flannel Company.

Later that day, the girls picked up Lucy and visited with Mandy (who was unable to come as she is home recovering from surgery). They then returned to the house for a small birthday celebration of ramen, make-overs and watching Dream Academy (again for my girls, the first time for Lucy).
Our girl chose cupckaes this year, and they brought two to Mandy (hence why there are only ten here) along with some make-over items for her. It was a perfectly perfect day for Miss Emma Faith. Full of all the people and things she loves best in this world. Looking forward to seeing what this next trip around the sun has in store for her! xo

Getting Ready for the Winter Showcase

I had to run to Target to get the girls a couple of things for the winter showcase today and saw this as I was coming up the stairs.

I couldn't resist taking a few pictures.

Though as I did, I realized something....
My work here is done.
No longer am I needed to do hair, make-up or costume changes.
Instead, I get to sit back and marvel at the two incredible young women they have become,
the friendship they share, and their love of dance.
It's been an incredible ride with these two, and I have loved every moment of it (yes, even the challenging parts). And while I know that my work here isn't really done, in a way it is. Getting to see all I had hoped and dreamed for them becoming reality, getting to see the fruits of the love and magic that was poured into them become *this* really is something that is hard to put into words. There's a sense of pride in a job well done (the onlly job I have ever truly felt was what I was meant to do) along with a sense of sadness that retirement from my most favorite job in the whole wide world is not far off.  But what remains is gratitude. Gratitude for their strong bond to eachother, as well as to David and I. Gratitude for all that we got to expreince together all these years. Gratitude that we chose the path less traveled by and that it has made all the difference. xo
And here it is. The last time David will ever steam a costume for Grace for the winter show...
