{This Moment}

{This Moment} - A Soule Mama Friday ritual. A single photo- no words- capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. If you are inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments section for all to find and see. We wish you a sweet weekend!

National Day Of Service And Remembrance

 Yesterday was the National Day of Service and Remembrance. The girls and I chatted over breakfast about what we could do for our "good deed". I told them a little bit about September 11th and the helpers that were present that day and they decided that we should bake something yummy to take to the fire department and police department in our town.
One quick trip to the store,and some coloring pages printed from online, and our service project was ready to go.
We decided to wait until David got home to deliver the brownies so that he could be part of the project too.
It was the perfect way to spend our September 11th. Taking a day that was so horrific and doing something good with it is just what is needed. Such a simple project and yet one that brought so much joy to all involved. The fire department and police department were both surprised and honored to receive homemade treats and cards. I imagine those brownies didn't last long!

Community Service Learning is such a very a powerful thing and something that I am happy is a such major part of our family and how we roll. I love that giving back is second nature to the girls. I love how all they need to hear is that there is a need somewhere and they come up with a way to fill it. I love that they will grow up using this day to serve and give back. It is my hope that they never know first hand anything like the events of that awful day all those years ago; but if they do I know in my heart that these two sweet souls will surely roll up their sleeves and find a way to Do Good.

Our Tiniest Dancer

And just like that it was Tuesday morning and we were once again counting the hours until dance class! Emma woke up ready to go and was quite bummed to hear that she had to wait many hours until her class would begin. Thankfully, we filled the day with all sorts of things to pass the time, and before she knew it it was time to get into her dance clothes and head out the door. She was so excited and said she was not nervous at all. She headed into class as if she had been going there for years. The next half hour was filled with much tapping, followed by a quick change into ballet shoes and then back into the studio to spend the next half hour in the more peaceful world of ballet. It was divine to get to watch, and I have to admit that it was amazing to see that these tiny dancers were not at all phased by the audience on the other side of the window. When class ended she came out with a huge grin on her face and even more confidence than she walked in with! It's surely going to be an amazing year for these two tiny dancers of ours at this amazing dance school! I can't wait to see all that's in store!

Happiness Is...

the first day of dance class!

Today was the first day of dance class for Grace! It was strange to have only one tiny dancer to get ready for class this afternoon (Emma's class is tomorrow) but it was very exciting too! Grace spent all day smiling. From the moment she got up this morning to the moment she went to sleep tonight there has been a huge smile on her face! She just loves dancing and she just loves that she gets to do three different kinds of dancing during her time at the dance studio! As she was getting ready for bed tonight I asked her what her favorite dance was today. Without hesitating she replied: "Jazz! I loved jazz! And then tap and then ballet! Well, really, Mama, I loved them all!"

Third Time's The Charm

On Thursday Grace lost her third tooth! This one had been very wiggly for awhile and all of a sudden, while she was coloring, it fell out! She came running in, super excited, with the tooth in the palm of her hand a new look to the smile on her face.
That night, the tooth fairy came and left Grace a sweet note, a super shiny golden dollar coin and sprinkled lots of glitter on her and her bed. I wish I could have gotten a good picture of glitter covered Grace! Wherever she went on Friday she left some glitter behind!
