Not long after we arrived home yesterday a package arrived. It came addressed to Emma (which was super exciting in and of itself) and had three gifts in it to help her pass the time while she recovers. "Grace, would you like to come paint with me?" she asked and off they went. Once they were done painting she tried her hand at friendship bracelet making, and made a bracelet for Grace and one for herself. Many thanks to Katie for the very thoughtful gift! xo

A Surprise For Emma
For those who have not heard, Emma was hurt by a snowboarder on Sunday while she was at ski practice. The guy on the snowboard was too busy checking his GoPro to notice that there was a skier near him and plowed into her as he barreled down the mountain. Her coach reamed the kid out pretty good and Emma for the most part seemed fine, though she had a pretty good headache when she got home that evening.
Yesterday, I discovered her awake at 5:45am, sitting upright in her bed. "Emma, why are you up?" I asked. She replied: "My head hurts." Oh gosh. About forty-five minutes later she tells Dave that her neck hurts. And shortly after that she mentioned her rib. I called her pediatrician as soon as they opened (knowing full well we'd be going in) and chose a 10:00am appointment time. It didn't take them long for them to diagnose her with whiplash and a mild concussion. They told us no lessons, screens, skiing or dancing until her re-check next Monday. The lack of screens hasn't phased her and she's doing really well over all. I think it helps that it's a mild one and not something more severe where things like light hurts her eyes/head.
We cannot thank everyone enough for all the sweet comments and messages on Facebook, the texts, the emails, the phone calls and the offers of help. We are all so grateful to be surrounded by such wonderful family and friends!
Today, Emma was surprised to see the Edible Arrangement van pull into our driveway as I was making dinner before Grace's dance team practice. She got her boots and coat out and went to meet the guy, She couldn't believe her eyes when she saw that the arrangement was for her. "Mama, I never thought I'd have one of these!" she kept saying. The girls wasted no time trying each of the items in the arrangement (the chocolate covered apples have been deemed the favorite). Thank you, Denise and Fred for such a sweet gift for our sweet girl! It truly meant the world to her (and to all of us, too)! We are so very grateful for such kind and thoughtful neighbors! xo
