Gift of Knowledge

In which I clean out my side of our closet and create a box for each girl containing all their main lesson books from Kindergarten through this year. Hopefully we can fit a few more in Emma's box after her senior year next year!

It's incredible to see it all together and realize that these bins contain their entire educational journey amd to consider that  each book was created by them with what they had learned each day of morning lessons each and every year. It was fun to look back and see the growth from little ones to now and to remember all the adventures and fun we had learning together! xo

Scenes From Grace’s Psychology Block

One of Grace's final blocks of her senior year was a psychology block. It was a fun one to put together and we both really enjoyed it! It was fun to remember when I took psychology my senior year in high school and to think back on that class, as well as all the psychology classes I took in college.

One night Grace comes to me and shares that she had just learned that in some AP Psych classes the students make rice babies (similar to the flour sack babies or the even older school egg babies) to learn what it's like to be responsible for a child but also to put all they had learned about the likes of Kholberg, Piaget, and Erikson (among others) into "practice: So we decided to add that into her block as well.

Honestly, the five pound bag of rice was brilliant and actually felt alot like a real baby, especially if you held it on your hip like you would a little one. Grace used a pair of no longer needed dance tights to create her body, went to Savers and purchased the jammies you see in these pictures and I dug out the baby hat that she came home in from the hospital when she was born and she chose to name her Juliet Carolina (Carolina for the brand of rice she is)!

Juliet went to dance every time Grace went to dance, and sometimes we took turns haning out with her. It was a really fun addition to her block and I am so glad she discovered this and wanted to incorporate it into what we were doing! xo

Today's Morning Lesson

One of the many perks of being homeschoolers (again!) is that they get to do cool stuff like be extras in an upcoming Hallmark Christmas movie!

POV: Everyone is out filming the movie and you get the lodge to yourself.

What a day they had! Call time got changed to 7:30am, which was a lovely treat,  and we were at the moutnain until just about 2:00pm, The grls had the best time and really enjoyed getting to see what goes into making a movie. We are super curiious what the footage will look like in the film as there really is not that much snow out there (thanks Climate Change 😓) but we have no doubt that movie magic will be in full effect! They both plated the fole of skiers, either on their way to or from the mountain, In addition to that some scenes were filmed on the chair lift or with them skiing down. This was defintiely a day (and a morning lesson) they will never forget! xo

Happy First Day!

Another lesson year began today and the girls did awesome! We are so excited (and so grateful) that they girls get to be part of the founding class of Seasons of Seven Virtual (Waldorf) School! One of the requirements of the school is that all of the children who are part of it are enrolled with their local school districts as homeschoolers! It's the best of both worlds and a total answered prayer! When I returned home from work this afternoon Emma was hard at work typing up three paragraphs about courage (her first assignment from her class teacher) and Grace was working on her sky/cloud journal entry #1 (her first assignment from her class teacher). Dave and I were so completely proud of these girls of ours! Not only did they show an incredible amount of independence and maturity but they rose so beautifully to the occasion that we are just blown away! These girls of ours never cease to amaze, but today was one of those days that I will stand in awe of, and carry with me, forever. This is sure to be a year we will never forget! xo

Physics: Waldorf Style

Since Emma finished up her physics block today I wanted to shares a few pictures from her main lesson book. These were all completed last week as she explored the physics of color and light. Other topics covered during her physics block were: the physics of sound and the physics of heat. xo
