Today At Homeschool Day

First up today: a class on terrarium making! The girls were super excited for this class, and the timing of it was especially good for Grace who just started her Botany block! What do terrariums have to do with the 1830s you may be wondering? Well, back in the 1830s they were used to transport plants overseas. They were called "Wardian Cases" (named for the amateur biologist, Dr. Nathaniel Ward who created them) and were made out of glass and wood or glass and metal. Some were very simple and some were much more elaborate and fancy!
In their second class of the day they got to make a set of graces. As soon as I saw that this class was being offered I knew that they would love it! They have often said how much they would like their own set of graces, being able to make their own sets was even better! xo

What A Great Day!

Today was homeschool day at Old Sturbridge Village.
The girls attended studios where they did some sewing and cooking.
Inside the envelopes that they sewed are some seeds to plant in next year's garden.
After their morning studio it was off to the playground.
Much climbing and running and playing was done by all.
This sheep was a popular destination!
There is nothing like a group of kindred spirits hanging out at OSV together!
The weather was incredible, the company amazing and the joy palpable.
What a great day!

Another Lovely Old Sturbridge Village Homeschool Day

Today was an absolutely glorious day. The weather was amazing and our travels were taking us to Old Sturbridge Village for homeschool day! Could it get any better than that?! We had our usual morning and then packed up and headed out for what we knew would be a fabulous adventure! We arrived at lunch time and headed to the village lawn to have a picnic lunch with friends.
After the new Magic Cabin catalog was thoroughly flipped through and dreamed over we decided to start making our way to the education building for the girls class.
They learned about games children played in the 1830s and made these adorable little houses!
After their class was done there was much playing and exploring to do. As we sat relaxing in the shade back on the village lawn my friend Emily spotted a family from the girls Girl Scout troop. What a treat to bump into Eleni and her littles while we were there today too! Gorgeous weather and sweet friends made this a truly fabulous day!

OSV Homeschool Day

Today was homeschool day at Old Sturbridge Village.  And, as if an adventure to the village was not already cool enough, the trip was made even more fabulous due to the addition of our kindred spirits!  We had not seen them since before they left for their month long trip to Oklahoma and Texas, and so there was much catching up to be done (which would explain why I took like all of two pictures).  Needless to say, even though it was another chilly, grey day we had an absolute blast! It was a fun filled, busy day which resulted in two girls who fell asleep on the way home and one very tired mama!  Thanks for spending the day with us, dear friends!  We are so very glad you're home!
