In Which David Goes To Pickity Place

 

Last Saturday we took David to Pickity Place for the first time. All the other times we have gone he has never been able to come, but this time we made it a point of finding a day that he could go with us. The menu was divine (as always!) and the weather was perfect. It was a lovely way to kick off our anniversary month. xo 

Yesterday At Pickity Place

Yesterday, the girls and I went to Pickity Place as the final part of Grace's birthday celebration! It was the first time since before the pandemic that we had eaten a multi course meal inside a restaurant (we had met my mom for ice cream in West Hartford on Wednesday and as there was no one inside the ice cream shop other than the employees we decided we felt comfortable staying inside). Pickity Place is currently at 50% capacity for inside. In the room we were in there were only three tables being used and everyone was distanced beautifully. The staff also wore masks the entire time.

The three of us had the chicken pomodoro as our entree. Every course was delicious (as always)! 

I am so glad that Grace asked to celebrate her birthday at Pickity Place and I am so glad that we were able to go (because, honestly, you never know with this pandemic)! It truly was the absolute perfect place to have our first meal since this all began. xo

Today At Pickity Place

When we asked Grace what she would like to do to celebrate her birthday she said she really wanted to go back to Pickity Place. And so, Grace, Emma and I made the hour long drive to Mason New Hampshire today to do just that. Originally, my mom (who celebrates her seventieth birthday this week) and my sister were supposed to come with us too, but due to a couple of unexpected circumstances they weren't able to join us. We were sad that they couldn't be there today, but we promised them we'd go together another time (soon)! 

We knew there would be a new Pickity cat (named Poppy) to meet today. The girls started looking for him as soon as we got near the house and it didn't take long before he appeared! 

And it wasn't long before they were rescuing this tiny frog from Poppy. 

 Our sweet Emma has been dreaming of her own orange cat for a few years now. Meeting Poppy only makes her want one even more now. And honestly, I cannot blame her. I love orange cats too, and this gentlemen was especially sweet!

 The grounds at Pickity Place are full of nooks and crannies and lots and lots of enchantment.

When I was choosing pictures to share I realized that I should have taken pictures of the salad portion of our meal. That red, white and blue potato salad was absolutely divine!

Though we were missing my mom and sister, and though it was rainy (off and on) we still had such a lovely time at Pickity Place. We are hoping we can return with my mom and sister soon, but if not I have a feeling that we'll be celebrating Grace's thirteenth birthday there next year! xo

A Visit To Pickity Place

On Saturday, while Dave and his dad were repairing the ceiling in the sitting room, his mom, the girls and I journeyed to New Hampshire to have lunch at Pickity Place. I had heard about Pickity Place from my friend Eleni and have wanted to go ever since.  We knew we were in for a lovely day, but we didn't realize exactly how enchanting the day would be until we arrived! 

Each month they have a set menu. For the children they can either choose a half portion of the monthly menu or "grandmother's basket". Both chose "grandmother's basket" this time but Grace has already said that while she loved her lunch she thinks she'll choose the monthly menu next time we go. She had some of Grandma Joan's salad and some of my soup (which she absolutely loved) and dessert so she really had the best of both worlds in the end! 

 The sweet and spicy plum chicken was delicious (as was everything)! 

 Dave's mom loved her choice of fresh vegetables over polenta. 

 This dessert was the perfect way to end such a delicious meal!

Before we were done with our first visit to Pickity Place the girls were already asking when we can go back and I can't say I blame them! It was as if we had found a bit of heaven on Earth! The food, the grounds, the gardens, the beautiful energy of this place- like Emma said "I wish we could live here"! It's such a very special place, and located so close to home, I have no doubt this will become a place we go frequently for years to come! xo
