A Trip to the Library

Someone made this large box into a planetarium.
Inside it's been painted black and there are glow in the dark stars.
What a fabulous idea!

We arrived and discovered we had the library to ourselves.  What a treat!  We got to chat with Mrs. Kim and the girls found all sorts of wonderful books to look at and chose ome to bring home.  Em headed right to the planetarium box, and Grace settled in with a few good books and the snuggily giant moose.  Story hour started a little bit later (todays theme was food) and Mrs. Kim read four books to the children and then had a wonderful activity prepared for them.  They got to glue pictures of food into a menu she had made for each child.  So simple but so much fun!  Of course, no trip to the library is complete without handstamps.  Grace is sporting new princess handstamps on both hands, and Emma chose a star.

I think we are going to make Wednesday story hour part of our weekly doings.

Enjoy the rest of this glorious day, dear ones.
We'll see you tomorrow.

Puddles

The morning started out snowy and grey so the girls and I decided to head to the Southborough Public Library (our new favorite place!) for the once a month Saturday Story Hour.  It seemed like a good way to spend a cold, grey morning so off we went. Even better our friends, Joe, Maggie and Cate showed up for story hour too  What fun!

Miss Jen, one of the fabulous children's librarians, lead the story hour whose theme is alphabet adventure.  The letter of the day was B and she talked about the sound it makes, and words that begin with B.  She read stories that were about the letter B and then sent the children on an alphabet safari, handing each child a lower case letter and having them find its upper case match that had been taped around the story hour area.  Fabulous!
Now, if only I could have gotten Emma to stop exerting her two year oldness and sit down it would have been even better!

We found some new books, and a couple of movies too, checked out and headed out the door to discover that the sky was beautifully blue and the sun was shinning! And that could mean there was only one thing to be done once we got home...

The sky may have only been blue for a little bit, but it was wonderful to be able to spend some time outside and check out the puddles.
Enjoy the rest of the day, friends.
We'll see you tomorrow.
