At The Archery Range

Yesterday we took the girls on a mystery ride. With it being such a gorgeous day we thought it would be fun to surprise them with a trip to the archery range. They (especially Grace) had been asking for awhile to try archery, and with a gorgeous Sunday (and nothing else planned) we thought it was the perfect time to make that wish come true! The four of us had an absolutely fantastic time! It had been many, many years since I picked up a bow but it all came back pretty quickly! The girls took to it as beautifully as I expected they would, with each getting a few bullseyes! Grace was the first one of us to do so! I think it's safe to say that we'll absolutely be doing this again! xo

Weekending

This weekend there was....
warm homemade apple pie on a cold night (a lovely surprise from one of our favorite church families),

and lemon buttermilk pancakes with lemon whopped cream and maple bacon for breakfast.

There were reminders of what joy is.

and  voting.
and realizing that in the next presidential election Grace will actually be able to cast her own ballot!

There was singing ("Well done, sister suffragette...", which, as you know, is our tradition to sing each time we vote),
And West Wing watching.

Not pictured: lots of time outside, time spent with the chickens, David prepping a garden bed for tulip bulbs and the girls at youth group at our church and me with the youth group of the church I work at in Holliston. A full and wonderful weekend, all around! xo

Sunday At Wachusett

On Sunday I finally made it to the top of Wachusett Mountain! As the only non-skier in the family I have never been father than the base lodge but on Sunday that all changed! After our trip to the pumpkin patch we decided to keep our day of fall fun going and headed to Wachusett to ride the chair lift and see what they had at their ski swap and sale. This is truly Dave, Grace and Emma's happy place. These three talk about skiing and the mountain non-stop year round, though it seems to reach a fever pitch in the weeks leading up to opening day. On Sunday, the closer we got to the mountain, the bigger the smiles grew on their faces. I have been saying to Dave for years that whenever he's ready to move us closer to the mountain all he's gotta do is say the word, but after Sunday we really do need to make that happen. Either this family needs to move to Sterling MA or Jay VT but closer to a mountain and skiing we really must be. xo

Yesterday In The Pumpkin Patch

The weather on Saturday and Sunday was absolutely glorious! We spent so much time outdoor soaking it all in and checking all sorts of things off our to-do list. While we were apple picking last Sunday we decided that we'd go pumpkin picking the following weekend. Mother Nature must have known how much we were looking forward to going because she gifted us with the most perfect autumn weekend ever! Pumpkins were picked and cider doughnuts were had and then we headed on our way to another spot for a little more autumn fun (and to check another thing off my bucket list.....)xo
