From Gramma Terri And Grandpa Gene

Looking through my phone tonight I realized I hadn't yet shared these pictures from Christmas. My parents gave the girls some new items for their fairy houses but the girls decided to use them in their Calico Critters dollhouse instead!
They had a few other items from the gift and decided that they would put them in the fairy garden that currently lives in the master bedroom. They look so sweet in there!
Many thanks to my parents for the wonderful new additions to their fairy house collection! xo

A Fairy House Fundraiser

Yesterday we attended a fairy house making fundraiser, and it was easily one of the best (and most unique) fundraisers that we have ever been a part of! The girls loved creating a mini fairy house, and the three of us absolutely loved that the proceeds from the event went to support a local organization called Fresh Start. Fresh Start helps people get back on their feet after a difficult time. The money was going to create kitchen bundles to give to the Fresh Start families. What a brilliant idea!

Thank you Lori for opening your wonderful shop for this wonderful fundraiser! We were so happy to be a part of it! xo

Along The Fairy House Trail

On Friday we went over to Tower Hill to check out the fairy houses that had been created the weekend before. The word on the street was that the fairy houses would be up through this past weekend, and then they'd disappear after that. Being the mama of two fairy loving girls I knew exactly where we needed to be on that gorgeous day!
Heading further down the fairy house trail.

Nothing like a bit of fairy magic, and time spent in nature, to kick off the weekend! xo

Thank You, Gramma Terri and Grandpa Gene!

This past Christmas my parents gave us a lovely set of luggage for our cruise later this year, and they gave each girl a gift card.  One was a Disney gift card (to use while we are away) and the other was a gift card to Michaels (that they could use now). Along with the gift card they were given they were also given one instruction- they'd need to share them.

Grace and Emma absolutely love gift cards! They love having their own card and getting to choose what they'd like to use it for. We are always impressed at how they take their time deciding what to use their gift card for rather than rushing out to spend it. Often times, it takes them close to a year to decide what to spend their gift card on. However, when it comes to the Michaels card this year it only took sixteen days for them to decide what they'd spend it on!

On Monday, after Emma and I dropped Grace off at dance class we decided that we'd go to Michaels to pass some time. We walked in and were instantly in awe of what we saw- a whole new fairy house section! Emma and I spent a good amount of time "oohing and aahhing" over each thing we saw, and it didn't take long before she said: "We have to bring Grace back here! We should use the gift card Gramma and Grandpa gave us for these things!"

And so, on Tuesday, we went back. Grace's reaction was just like ours (as we knew it would be). She was absolutely enchanted by each thing she saw!

They spent about thirty minutes taking it all in and choosing what they would spend their portion of the gift card on. Some things were chosen and decided against. Other things were chosen and kept. Emma ended up choosing a red table and chair and a little set of white dishes. "These will be perfect for my mouse and the house I just made her, mama!"

Grace chose a fairy house, a lamppost (that lights up) and a deer.

And even better: I had a 50% off  email coupon to use too!

The mouse was given to her by Grandma Joan and Grandpa Ron this past Christmas.
There really couldn't have been anything more perfect for them to choose to spend this gift card on! It's as if my mom knew that this line would be there, waiting, for her fairy and fairy house loving granddaughters! Thanks, mom and dad! It was an absolutely perfect choice of gift for them!

And, it goes without saying, that a few more of these items will be appearing in their Easter baskets this spring! xo

Summer Crafting

The summer box from Happy Hedgehog Post was full of so many absolutely incredible projects that I think it's safe to say that this one is our most favorite one yet! Normally, we get a monthly "envelope", thought it's really a package, full of all sorts of projects and the materials to complete them, but since Samantha (the creator of HHP) was nearing the end of her pregnancy she decided to do one summer bundle so that she could focus on her baby rather than the envelopes that needed to go out. What a smart mama (and what lucky customers we all are)!
The first project the girls chose to do was wet felting soap. The most luscious smelling cucumber melon soap was included, as well as all the roving that would be needed. While we've needle felted before wet felting was new for us!
Emma's completed soap (I forgot to get a picture of Grace's). It came out beautifully!

Since there is a pretty strict water ban in our town this summer we decided to forgo our usual vegetable garden. We're so sad to not have one this year, but we've all agreed it was the right choice. We were thrilled to see that there were materials in the summer box to grow a little window herb garden! It was the perfect way to still include that part of our summer rhythm but on a much smaller scale.
A backyard bird list to check-off as they see each bird. It's like Happy Hedgehog Post knows us!
And as if this box couldn't get any better there were lots and lots of fairy house making materials! The girls divided it up and went out to scout out locations in which to build their fairy houses.
Our window herb garden today. The girls clearly chose the right place for this sweet garden to grow! It's clearly very happy in our bedroom window!

There are still a few more projects left to complete, too! I figured I'd hold on to them for a while longer so that we can have a few more things to do throughout the rest of the summer. We truly cannot thank Donna and Peter enough for this wonderful subscription to Happy Hedgehog Post! It has been such a treat and is so very looked forward to each month! xo

Fairy Houses

A morning of fairy house building with friends (and other homeschool families) was the perfect way to start our day yesterday! xo

{This Moment} Fairy House

{This Moment} - A Soule Mama Friday ritual. A single  photo - no words- capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. If you are inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments section for all to find and see. We wish you a lovely first weekend of autumn! xo

Unplugged Sunday Part 1

Our Unplugged Sunday started with a trip to Tower Hill Botanic Garden for the First Annual Family Picnic.  It was a gorgeous day, a little on the warm side, but a perfect day nonetheless.
We all agreed that this was one of the neatest fairy houses there!
Our finished fairy house!
It was such a great way to spend the first part of our Sunday!  The Tower Hill Family Picnic was fantastic, and we hope that they do it again.  We said our good-bye's to my parents (who we'll see again next weekend when we all gather for the annual July birthday celebration) and headed on our way to home to grab our swimsuits, beach toys and some drinks to meet up with our family of friends at Hopkinton State Park. Swimming and a cook-out with friends was the perfect way to end a fabulous day!  Pictures to come tomorrow.
