Getting Ready for the Winter Showcase

I had to run to Target to get the girls a couple of things for the winter showcase today and saw this as I was coming up the stairs.

I couldn't resist taking a few pictures.

Though as I did, I realized something....
My work here is done.
No longer am I needed to do hair, make-up or costume changes.
Instead, I get to sit back and marvel at the two incredible young women they have become,
the friendship they share, and their love of dance.
It's been an incredible ride with these two, and I have loved every moment of it (yes, even the challenging parts). And while I know that my work here isn't really done, in a way it is. Getting to see all I had hoped and dreamed for them becoming reality, getting to see the fruits of the love and magic that was poured into them become *this* really is something that is hard to put into words. There's a sense of pride in a job well done (the onlly job I have ever truly felt was what I was meant to do) along with a sense of sadness that retirement from my most favorite job in the whole wide world is not far off.  But what remains is gratitude. Gratitude for their strong bond to eachother, as well as to David and I. Gratitude for all that we got to expreince together all these years. Gratitude that we chose the path less traveled by and that it has made all the difference. xo
And here it is. The last time David will ever steam a costume for Grace for the winter show...

Yesterday Afternoon

 Buns in,
along with glitter covered hair (and jackets),
 and make-up on,
 can mean only one thing...
It's holiday charity show day! xo

Holiday Charity Show Day

Grace volunteered to make two sets of reindeer antlers for her ballet class's performance in the holiday charity show today. She's put the finishing touches on them this morning!
Finished! Craft foam for the win (thanks for the recommendation, Miss Nicole)!
This is what happens when you have to get tights out of the Rac N Roll. Our resident dance kitty instantly assumed the position!
Thank goodness for lint rollers. Black clothes with a white cat simply do not mix!
Our tiny dancers ready for yet another holiday charity show!
 Emma's musical theater class.
 Emma's jazz class.
 Grace's ballet class.
Grace's lyrical class.

And so another holiday charity show comes to a close. Everyone danced beautifully and more money was raised for Andrew's Helpful Hands and more food collected to donate to the Hudson Food Pantry! Let the countdown to comp season and the recital begin! xo

{This Moment} After The Holiday Show

{This Moment} A Friday ritual. A single photo, no words, capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savour and remember. xo

Yesterday

Another holiday show is in the books, dear friends! All of the stidents danced so beautifully yesterday! We were especially proud of Emma's cartwheel during her performance, and Grace's "line" during her musical theater class's performance. She hadn't shared with us that she had a "part" so we were quite surprised to see our sweet Grace step forward when she did! What an absolute treat! A quick costume change and then Grace and her classmates were back on stage performing an absolutely gorgeous ballet dance! Flowers from our friend Amy, and celebratory ice cream after the show,  were the cherry on top of the sundae that was yesterday! xo
