May The Journey Continue

This lovely letter arrived for Emma today, and with it a sweet offer of a new pen pal. No one will ever replace her great-grandpa but my guess is that her great-aunt Gail may come very close! I am excited to see all the stories that the next part of the journey contains! xo

A Wonderful Gift

Fun mail arrived for the girls today! Their friend Alice wrote a beautiful story in which Grace and Emma not only talk to a fairy but become fairies. Needless to say, they were over the moon to receive such a gift!
Not only did she write the entire thing but she illustrated it too!
Thank you, Alice, for this wonderful gift! We all absolutely loved your story and are so glad that you sent a copy our way! Oh, and we completely agree that if Gretchen could talk it would indeed be with a British accent! xo

A Gift For Grace And Emma

On Sunday, after we returned home from having ice cream in honor of David's birthday and National Ice Cream Day, I gave the girls a gift that had arrived for them the day before.
Grace was thrilled to see this beautiful card that she had seen at Trader Joe's!
And she was even more thrilled to see that it was from her friend Alice!
We had Emma open hers first (since Grace would be opening gifts the next day).
Her very own notepad of personalized paper! Perfect for writing letters!
And a sweet pad of swan note paper for Grace! And it goes perfectly with her beautiful card, too!
Both girls got right to work on thank you letters for Alice and her mom.
I unfortunately forgot to take a picture of Emma's before it was in the envelope, but I got a few of her working on a letter the next ay. One of the women from our lovely church had sent her a card at camp and she wanted to write back and tell her all about her time in Maine. It was something she had wanted to do before the notepad arrived, and even more so after she was gifted such beautiful paper!
Alice had sent Grace a letter on personalized stationary a few weeks ago, and the three of us were truly enchanted by it. I texted Patricia to see where she had found it, and she told me that a friend of hers makes them said then went on to say that she had been wanting to send Grace and Emma each a pad of their own. I knew how much they would be thrilled to receive such a lovely gift!

Thank you, Patricia and Alice, for such a truly lovely gift for the girls! They were absolutely over the moon to see that they each had their own pad of notepaper "just like Alice!" These notepads are absolutely wonderful and so very pretty! We will definitely be placing an order as soon as the last sheet of paper has been used in each one! xo

Mail For Emma

This afternoon when Emma and I returned home from dropping Grace off at her dance class we discovered that there was some mail waiting for Miss Emma. She was so super excited (after all who doesn't love getting fun mail) and quickly headed in to the living room to see who it was from. I love her expression as she opens this sweet card up and discovers that not only is there a note for her but a sweet felted heart too! Thank you, Kim and Reece for the sweet card and gift. The heart looks just perfect in our living room and will surely be treasured for years to come!

Dear Ella

A friend, and fellow homeschooling mama, recently asked me if Grace and Emma would be interested in becoming pen pals with her daughter. Knowing how much the girls love getting mail I quickly replied "yes!" Her daughter kicked off exchange by sending a fabulous postcard to the girls, and while we had all intentions of writing back right away my plan was foiled when we were sick for two weeks. Thankfully, we're all finally all better and the cards have now been written and mailed (and probably received at this point). Here's to looking forward to much correspondence between these three sweet girls!

Dear Ellie

The girls have a pen pal named Ellie.  She lives in New York and is the daughter of one of David's cousins.  The girls and Ellie played together a few years ago at a family gathering in New Jersey and have been sending each other pictures ever since.  Today Grace said to me: "Mama, we should make a picture for Ellie."  which is surely a great way to spend a cold Leap Day morning if you ask me.  So, the girls chose pictures and got to coloring.  And since Miss Grace is so into writting her name these days it seemed only fitting that she write her first letter to Ellie.  It's short and sweet (as you can see) and was lovely that the paper already said "Happy Saint Patrick's Day!" on it but it sure brought much pride and many smiles to its author, her mama and little sister.  And I imagine it will bring many smiles to Ellie and her family when she recieves it too!

Pen Pal Pictures

This past summer we went to New Jersey for Dave's parents annual Father's Day picnic.  It was great to get to see so many people that we don't get to see very often, and even more exciting there were a few other kids at the party too! One of Dave's cousins has a little girl named Ellie.  Grace, Emma and Ellie became instant friends.  Watching them play you would think that they spent every weekend together and  yet they had never met before.  It was fabulous!  His cousin Michelle and I decided it would be fun to have the girls become pen pals, and ever since then they have had a blast coloring and mailing pictures to each other.

We can't wait to see what Ellie sends back!
