High Atop The Steeple

Today, as I sat in the car out front at church, while the girls were at youth group I was chatting on the phone with my mom when I noticed a hawk high atop the steeple! Evidently it's a regular visitor but this is the first time that I noticed it! That sure is a great spot in which to see the whole of Framingham (and perhaps all of Metrowest)! xo

On The Second Sunday Of Advent

Yesterday was the first time I have been back to the church since the pandemic began nine months ago. It was also the first time the girls had been back in a year.
It was like coming home again.
I'm pretty sure it missed us.

We were there to film the dance the girls have choreographed for the 5:00pm Christmas Eve service.

Emma went right into Junior Deacon mode.

Practicing while she waits for Grace to get changed.

Warming up.

Nailed it.

The first of several run throughs.
It's amazing what these two can put together in a week! They did "hit a wall" at the end and needed to enlist the help of their former dance teacher (and one of my dearest friends), Miss Cindy. She helped them wrap the dance up beautifully and offered feedback and praise for a job well done. To see what they created be sure to join us on the church Facebook page at 5:00pm on Christmas Eve! xo

Love Must Be Louder

Yesterday with posters in hand and masks on we gathered with other members of our church and attended the rally on the common in Framingham. It was wonderful to see so many from our church family in person rather than on a screen after all these months, and it was equally as wonderful to stand with so many who feel as we do- that it's time for this awfulness to stop. We understand that we will never understand, however, we stand. xo

Advent One

Blessing of Hope

So may we know
the hope
that is not just
for someday
but for this day-
here, now,
in this moment
 that opens to us:

hope not made
of wishes
but of substance,

hope made of sinew
and muscle
and bone,

hope tha thas breath
and a beating heart,

hope that will not
keep quiet
and be polite,

hope that knows
how to holler
when it is called for,

hope that knows
how to sing
when there seems
little cause,

hope that raises us
from the dead-

not someday
but this day,
every day,
again and
again and
again.

The Last Two Days

Gorgeous new aprons on, cookies being mixed and baked, and so many other yummy things being made too. It's been non-stop baking and creating for the last two days for the fair at church tomorrow! xo

Lights For Liberty: Framingham

Last night we attended the Lights for Liberty vigil in Framingham. It was a gorgeous night and a beautifully put together protest/vigil. Here the girls hold signs that one of the women from our incredible faith community made.
On the steps at City Hall waiting for the event to begin.
Framingham's Mayor Spicer gives a speech.

"Let's be clear. there is no crisis of immigration in our country, there is a crisis of compassion in our government!"  -Plymouth Church's own Rev. Gregory Morisse
Beginning the candle lit portion of the evening.
It was an incredibly moving experience and I am so glad that we were able to be there with so many from our church, and so many more from Framingham and the surrounding towns. Events like this give us all hope that there is still goodness and kindness in our country, even though it feels more rare than ever these days. xo
