Snowflakes

Sunday night we read one of our most favorite winter books- Snowflake Bentley. It's such a great story of a man who grew up in Vermont and spent his life studying (and photographing) snowflakes. After the story was over, while I was tucking the girls in, Grace said: "Mama, tomorrow can we please try out the snowflake kit that Aunt Kaitlyn gave me?" I love how reading this story instantly made her want to get out that kit and get creating!
The next day we started with some chalk drawings/stampings of snowflakes.
And Grace did a wee bit of writing before creating her picture.
We then got busy creating snowflakes using this sweet snowflake kit that Kaitlyn gave Grace for Christmas.
Once the snowflakes were outlined in the glue glitter was applied.
Then it was time to wait.
The next morning....
The snowflakes are ready to go on the windows!
Aren't they lovely?!
Now if only it had been snowing while we did this project! That would have been the icing on the cake!
Thanks Kait for this awesome gift! We'll surely be creating many more snowflakes this season (and for years to come)! xoxo

King Winter Arrived In Full Force

Friday.  1:30pm.
Friday.  8:30pm.
Saturday.  7:28am.
10:44am.
This was taken right outside of the garage door.
We'er pretty sure that there was even more snow than we measured here.
And so it begins.
Off they go.
1:55pm.
2:30pm.  Front walk.
Our sweet, old farmhouse has seen yet another impressive storm.
(4:00pm. Back out for round two).
8:00pm.  Snowflake Bentley seemed like a fitting bedtime story.
