We had our first proper snowfall today which lead Grace to declare that we needed to make snow crea for dessert! She harvested some snow and whipped up a batch! It was the perfect way to end the day! xo

The Need For Winter
Some of the hens have started laying again. A true sign that climate change is real and an important reason why we need actual winter/actual seaswons. Winter is intended to be a time of rest for all living beings, and is so important for our sweet hens as a lot of energy and effort goes into creating an egg a day. They need winter, and so do we. Winter is supposed to be a time of conserving energy/going inward. A time of rest an renewal so that when spring comes every living being is ready for the rebirth that comes with it. xo

A Snowy Pi Day

In addition to being Pi Day yesterday, the girls were also home thanks to a snow day! It was predicted that we would get about 12-18 inches, but in the end I think our town only ended up with around 6-8. Wachusett and the towns surrounding ended up with about twenty when all was said and done. I was glad to have them home, and am looking forward to returning to life as a homeschool family at the end of this school year. xo

Fifteen
And just like that she's fifteen! Every yaer seems to go by faster than the last! This trip around the sun was full of joy and laughter, tears and sorrow and so much growth! This fall proved to be one of her most challenging and difficult yet, but we have seen her emerg stronger and more confident because of it. Yesterday was truly a day that was absolutely perfect for Miss Emma. She chose to forgo the crown I made her all those years ago ("it's getting a bit small, mama!") in favor of her favorite crown, which is far more grown up than the felt one I created when she was four. After we betowed our wishes on her for this next year, and the birthday crown was fully aglow, she opened her gifts and then went on a scavenger hunt for one final gift: a much wished for snowboard of her own! Thankfully Mother Nature bestowed the gift of snow upon Emma's birthday, which just made the day even more magical and lovely! That afternoon and into the night, the celebration continued with Mandy and Lucy joining us for make-overs, and movies, and pizza (since the ramen place was closed) followed by the most delicious chocolate raspberry cake for our chocolate raspberry loving girl. Grace and I had made it while Dave and Emma were out buying her bindings. All agreed it was delicious and was a recipe worth repeating! From start to finish, there could not have been a more perfect birthday for Emma Faith! Her next trip around the sun is sure to be full of joy and laughter, tears and sorrow and so much growth but we are here for it and cannot wait to see all that awaits her!
Happpy Birthday, Emma! We love you to the moon and stars and back and are so proud to be your parents! We are with you every step of the way! xo

Snow Day!
We were so thrilled to wake up and see the world all covered in gorgeous snow! Not only was it beautiful but it was perfect packing snow! Emma's snowman was such a welcome addition to the yard, and seeing the girls outside on one of the tabbogans totally flashed me back to years passed. So grateful for this incredible life we get to live! xo

Clover Explores The Snow
We were so excited to see that Mother Nature had gifted us with some wonderful snow today that the girls couldn't resist letting Clover explore it when they got home from the mountain today! She was sure at first, but once Grace made her a snowman (with two of her most favorite treats) she took a liking to it! xo

Bluebird Skies
Our sweet old farmhouse looks especially good dressed up in snow. Even more so with those gorgeous bluebird skies behind her! xo
