Scenes From The Lake

It's been another absolutely gorgeous week at the lake!
The weather has been truly magnificent, and the girls have logged countless hours swimming and building sandcastles.
It's also been another fabulous week of swimming lessons for these part mermaid children of ours.
They swim before their lesson, swim during their lesson and stop by to say hi to me and head right back in to the water after their lesson. This is what summer is all about, my friends.
We also loved having so many friends join us at the lake throughout this week. It was such a treat to have different friends to visit with each day! Thank you to everyone who came and spent some time with us. It was lovely to get to share our lake days with you! xo

Swimming Lessons And Parakeets

And so began another year of swimming lessons! Just like that the first day of the much looked forward to lessons arrived and they were off meeting their teacher and the other kids in their class.
Lunch after lessons sporting the new hooded towels from Gramma!
And then what should we spot on the beach but a Parakeet! The poor thing was so confused (and so was everyone else).
It perched on this shoe for a bit before going under a picnic table. It flew over to the fence just before one of the lifeguards could scoop it up. We left shortly after that so we have no idea how this story ended. We do so hope that they were able to get the bird and find its owner. xo

And So Begins Another Week

This surely has been the summer of days spent at the lake.
And you know what? We wouldn't have it any other way!

First Day Of Swimming Lessons

For the past several summers the girls have taken swimming lessons at the lake in our town. And each summer we have watched them gain confidence and skills thanks to the talented teens who are their swim instructors. They did one session of swimming lessons at the Y (before last summer's session at the lake) and did not do nearly as well in the pool. With that in mind we signed the girls up for two weeks of lake lessons this summer. Today was their first day and they were both so excited that they couldn't wait to get to the lake today. As soon as it was time for their lesson they went running over saying quick good-byes to me. They spent the next hour in their lesson. When it was over they came running out of the lesson part of the lake and then headed right back in to the lake where Sarah and I were sitting. They then spent the next three hours swimming and playing and practicing all they had learned today. It's safe to say that we have some water babies on our hands!

A Day At The Lake

This week is Grace is taking swimming lessons.  She participated for the first time last year and loved them so much that she's been looking forward to this summer and "swimming classes" ever since!  Yesterday was a rather chilly day to be lakeside, but today was just perfect.  We arrived a little later than I would have liked but got their just in time for her not to miss a moment of her class!
Grace heads down the beach to meet up with her friends.

Which means Em pretty much has this part of the lake to herself.

The older girls have returned from their lesson.

First discovery of the day.

When my Mom stayed with the girls while we were at the James Taylor concert she poured a bucket of water down Em's back.

Ever since then this has been her favorite thing to do.

And of course, there is the joy of dumping water on an unsuspecting older sister!

The girls spent a lot of time finding things in the lake and collecting them in these buckets.

Now, if only we could have caught some of the little fish to add to the buckets.

A beautiful day at the beach was only made more lovely by a visit to the ice cream truck.

It was a glorious day at the beach.   A beautiful day spent outside with good friends is good for the soul!
Enjoy the rest of this beautiful day, dear ones.
With any luck we'll see you tomorrow!
