Happy Birthday, David!

With the girls away for David's birthday we celebrated before they left. We gave him a new lunchbag (it was time!) and some of his favorite ice cream sandwhiches (that we all love)! Happy birthday, David! May this next trip around the sun be full of all the people and things (and so much skiing) that you love best! xo

Happy Birthday, Grace Elizabeth!

Eight years ago (which, by the way, doesn't feel possible) this sweet girl arrived earthside. We had walked a long road to becoming parents, and on a warm summer night our dream finally became a reality. From that very first moment it was as if the world finally made complete sense.
Thank you, dear Grace, for being our first born. Thank you for bringing the world your sweetness and light, your love and kindess. We are so very blessed to be your mama and papa, and have enjoyed seeing the world through your eyes during these past eight years!
Happy birthday, Grace Elizabeth! May this next trip around the sun be your best yet, and may all your wishes and dreams come true! We love you to the moon and stars and back (and always will)! xoxo

Happy Birthday, David!

Happy birthday, David! We are so sad that we didn't really get to celebrate with you today (since it was so jam packed)! We'll have to make up for it this weekend! Regardless, we hope that you had a truly wonderful day and that your next trip around the sun is even better than the last! Thank you so much for all you do and for all that you are! We are so glad that you are the blue in our house of pink! xoxoxo

Happy Birthday, David!

Today the girls and I wish our favorite guy a very happy birthday! We all had a busy day with Dave meeting a friend for a round of golf while the girls and I were busy preparing for his birthday celebration this evening (and a trip to Connecticut to pick up the new birthday ring items for Grace's birthday celebration tomorrow). This evening found us opening gifts, having a yummy dinner and then enjoying ice cream cake with our dearest friends. It was a perfect way to kick off Dave's next trip around the sun!

Happy Birthday, David! Thank you for all you do to make this incredible life of ours possible, for all you do to make the world a better place, for always knowing when to make us laugh and for being an all around great husband and father! The girls and I couldn't be any luckier! Enjoy your next trip around the sun, my love! It's bound to be as amazing and adventure filled as the past ones have been! XOXO

A Surprise For Emma

A surprise arrived in the mail for Emma yesterday.
It was from her Aunt Donna and Uncle Peter!
She was so excited to see what each of the boxes contained.
And even more excited to have yet another lovely new outfit for her doll!
Thanks Aunt Donna and Uncle Peter for the fabulous birthday gift! It was a total hit!

Emma Faith Is Five!

Today there was:
Birthday ring exploring,
birthday smiles,
and hanging out in the birthday tent.
There was present opening (first thing in the morning, of course),
And investigating new treasures.
There were birthday surprises from your beloved sister.
"A Luna for me?!  Thanks, Grace!"
And new things for her dolls.
There were cards that couldn't be any more perfect.
And cake making.
And cake tasting.
And then cake baking (no picture of that).
Followed by a Mystery Ride.
"Where are we going, mama?!"
And rejoicing when they saw where!
There was showing Meaghan the ropes of how one gets their nails done at the salon.
And looking older than their years.
And loving that the first time these three got their nails done together was on Emma's fifth birthday.
Then it was back home to get ready for tonight.
Dinner in the oven.
A birthday banner made.
And frosting made for her cake too, of course.
There was posing for the camera.
And decorating her birthday cake with her bestest friends.
And then there was playing (oh, so much playing).
And some more presents.
And before dinner was on the table it was time for the birthday ring.
And now she is five!  This picture just says it all!
And there was (once again) much "oohing" and "ahhing" over this very gorgeous birthday ring that my Dad made for us.  It really is stunningly beautiful. Thanks, Dad!
Then there was much wishing (upon receiving the above picture) that we had been able to connect with my parents so that the new pieces my Dad made for the birthday ring could be part of her ring this year.  As you can see he has outdone himself yet again!
And then it was time for yummy yummy dinner followed by yummy yummy cake.
Cake and ice cream were served.
Secret of the Wings was watched.
And much silliness started as the movie ended.
If these four kids (and their mamas and papas) don't sleep well tonight it will be shocking!

It was a glorious day and a glorious way to celebrate her fifth trip around the sun. It will surely be a day we all treasure and remember for years to come.  Happy fifth birthday, sweet Emma Faith!  Daddy, Grace and I are so proud to have you sharing you joy with us each and every day! We can't wait to see what this next trip around the sun has in store for you!  XOXO

"Just One More Candle And A Trip Around The Sun"

Today the girls and I wish our favorite guy the very happiest of birthdays.  It was a quiet family celebration with the four of us and my Mom (who had come to pet sit while we were rockin' the campground this weekend).  We had a delicious dinner followed by cake, cards and gifts.  It was a great ending to an amazing weekend.  And tonight, as we settle down from all the excitement that the weekend and David's birthday brought, we'll also be reflecting on the events of this night six years ago. It's hard to believe that tomorrow morning we'll have a six year old in the house.  Time sure has flown!  Happy birthday, David!  Thank you for all you do to make this incredible life possible.  And thank you so much for taking this amazing marriage/parenting/unschooling journey with me.  It wouldn't be the same (or nearly as much fun) without you! xoxoxo

The Original February Birthday Girl

Today is my sister's birthday and even though I feel like every post this month has been about birthdays (mostly Em's) it's only fitting to end this month with a post dedicated to my sister.  For twenty seven years February was all hers.  She has been a believer in the birthday month probably since she was born (or at least from the time that she knew what a month was).  Her love of her birthday and celebrating it fully has always been there, and it seems to me that she has managed to pass this love on to both of her nieces, but especially this one who she shares her birthday month with.

When I found out I was pregnant with Emma and that she was due on my sisters birthday I wondered what it would be like for my sister to share not only her beloved month with this new ltitle one but also her day. Looking back, had we known exactly who it was that would be arriving February 2008 for the 28th to have been shared would have been more than OK. In fact, I think it would have been perfect!

Happy Birthday, dear sister and beloved aunt!  You are totes amaze!  We hope that this day is as wonderfully fabulous as you are and that this is your best year yet.  Somehow, I have a feeling it will be! XO
