A New Favorite Spot

Last Friday the girls and I did some much needed cleaning (hence the missing pink curtains on their windows). We spent most of the morning in their room, sorting through things they no longer need, thinning out stuff from the top of their dresser and bookcase and giving it a bit of a bigger girl "feel". This sweet room has grown with them beautifully, not needing much more than a simple little change to feel like a "bigger girl" room each time they moved from one stage to the next. The simple act of placing their dollhouse on the bookcase was one such change. The moment we did that the room just felt older to us. It's crazy how something so simple can have such a profound impact! As soon as the dollhouse was placed on the bookcase the girls got to work setting it up. It's so nice to finally have a place where it cam remain set up and be played with more easily than it has been in the past! It's seen lots of playtime already and I have a feeling it will be a favorite spot for many moons to come! xo

Weekending

On Saturday I got a text from my brother asking what we were up to and if he could come for a visit. I quickly replied. We hatched a plan. And a visit was had (it was fab)!
The girls were overjoyed to have Uncle Grant come spend the weekend at our house. His arms sure got a workout pushing his two favorite nieces on the swings and giving lots and lots of hugs!
We figured his visit was the perfect time to have the first fire pit of the season, too!
On our way home from church yesterday we scored this fabulous, classic, red metal Radio Flyer for $15! We sent it home with my brother so that my Dad could spruce it up (there's some rust on the inside). You really can't go wrong with a classic!
After dinner Dave put the final shingle on the dollhouse roof! Such an exciting day, indeed! We really should have kept a tally of the hours he put in on this roof alone. We're sure it's way more than we think it is.
And just like that our fabulous weekend was over. For a weekend that, at the beginning, had no plans it sure turned out to be quite a lovely one. Impromptu visits are always divine and the chance to be with family is even better.

Things I Absolutely Love

I absolutely love Valentine's Day.  I know that there are many people who say it's a Hallmark holiday but for me Valentine's Day is just pink and red and sweet and lovely. It's a time to put a just little more love out into the world.  Plus, our house looks super sweet with hearts on each window and the festive table cloth on the kitchen table!
I absolutely love walking into various rooms and discovering where Emma's babies are tucked in that day. Today our room was the room of choice.
I absolutely love that Emma did all this on her own. From the gathering of materials, to tracing her hand to the gluing. I absolutely love that the girls can now get to all these wonderful craft materials anytime the desire to create strikes them. And yes, hand turkeys are always in season.
I absolutely love that the cookie delivery today turned into an impromptu play date and chat with friends.
I absolutely love the new Valentine mailboxes we bought at Target today. I love that they are bigger than the ones we've had before and that the door is hinged. I love how much the girls love this sweet little tradition that we started all those years ago. I love how excited they get each day when they check to see what's been left in their mailboxes. But most of all, what I absolutely love, is that I get to leave each girl a sweet little love note (and maybe a little something sweet with it too).
I absolutely love how much love Dave has poured into this dollhouse. Each shingle that is painstakingly placed gets it one step closer to being finished. I love that he's creating a family heirloom, one that I hope is treasured and loved for generations to come.

What I absolutely love the most is this incredible life and the amazing family that I get to share this journey with. And that, my friends, really is the best Valentine of them all!

If you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments for all to find and see. We wish you a wonderful weekend!

Saturday Night in Instagram

A delicious dinner of lobster ravioli, lots of laughter (maybe from a little too much wine!), lots of time spent outside and the beginnings of a new project make for a very full Saturday night. Our bellies and hearts are indeed full.
