Emma painted the owl Miss Heather from Nature School gave each of the girls as their final project of the nature school year today. We were all super impressed with how beautifully it came out! xo

{This Moment} Artists In Residence
{This Moment} - A Soule Mama Friday ritual. A single photo- no words- capturing a moment from the
week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor
and remember. If you are inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment'
in the comments section for all to find and see. Many wishes for the happiest of weekends!

Grace's Masterpiece
This morning Grace attended a one session drawing and painting workshop with Miss Emily. We had to get an earlier start than we are used to but seeing how excited she was we actually had no trouble getting out of the house with time to spare today. Dare I say, we even arrived early to the schoolhouse! Em and I said our good-byes to our sweet artist and went on our way to have adventures of our own while Grace and the other members of the group visited the animals to get inspiration for their paintings. As you can see from the picture above, Grace chose to paint one of the horses (named Lacey) and did quite a stellar job of it! Now, just to find the perfect spot to display this beautiful masterpiece in! Oh, and how I love that she puts smiley faces in the letters of her name!

Wind Chimes
Our dear friends the Douglas Family gave Emma a set of paint-your-own wind chimes for her birthday. Both of the girls were super excited to have such a neat project to work on! They began this project on Friday and finished it today (note the different placemats to tell the different days).
Thanks, friends for choosing such a perfect gift for Em! Both of the girls loved this project, and I am sure that tomorrow morning when they wake up the first thing they will want to do is find perfect spots for their wind chimes to hang. Now, we just need spring to get here so we can hang them outside where the passing breezes can make them chime!

Artists in Residence
I took these pictures a few days ago, and since today was a less than stellar day (the first in a rather long time), I thought it would be the perfect time to post them.
Here's to hoping that everyone stays healthy and that tomorrow is a better day than today was.
Have a wonderful night, dear friends.
With any luck, we'll see you tomorrow.

Pre-Breakfast Painting and Water Play
This morning the girls watched Sesame Street while having their morning cup of milk. A segment showing children painting was shown, and immediately after that segment ended Grace arrived in the kitchen asking me for a smock and her paints. Usually it takes awhile for them to be fully awake in the morning, so I was somewhat surprised when they wanted to paint so soon after coming downstairs. It was a fabulous way to start our day!
All Done.
What better way to clean up after painting than by playing in the bathroom sink.
This was only the beginning of a super fun day! After we had breakfast and got dressed we had a play-date with our friends Mary and Will, who then took Emma home with them so that my mom, David and I could take Grace to the movies (for the first time!) to see The Princess and the Frog. It was fabulous! The story, the music, the fact that it was hand animated. Everything! Disney has totally hit the mark with this one! Such a gem!
The fun of our day has left me worn out and ready for bed.
Sleep well, dear friends. We'll see you tomorrow.
