In Celebration Of Veterans

We gathered this evening to show our gratitude and appreciation for those who have served. For the last three years, our church, along with the other UCC church in Framingham has held a veteran's dinner, and this year we were thrilled to have my parents and brother join us for this lovely evening. It was wonderful to be able to celebrate my father and brother's service, to hear so many stories from those who served, and to have a chance to thank everyone for their service. The food was delicious, the music was perfect and the Missing Man Table (sometimes called the POW/MIA Table or the Fallen Comrade Table) was absolutely moving. Thank you to all who worked so hard to make this evening a huge success! It was a perfect way to end this Veterans Day and we are honored to have been able to be a part of it. xo

We used this rainy day to decorate some Statues of Liberty from MomsRising! Our mini-activists loved this project, and we hope that Senator Warren, Senator Markey and Representative Tsongas love them too! xo

On Tuesday

Tuesday's adventure involved a trip to the mall to use the Lego gift card that her Gramma Terri and Grandpa Gene gave her for her birthday. She carried her gift card proudly all the way to the store and then made a beeline for the Lego Friends and Lego Elves section. She looked carefully at each box, and finally settled on the dragon you see above. "I want Grace to be able to choose something with my card too, mama!" she said as she proudly walked to the cash register, paid for her item and  then handed Grace the card with what was left on it. As soon as we arrived home, they changed into their jammies and got to work creating the dragon followed by the chick that Grace chose. Their abilities to quickly and easily build these Lego creations never ceases to amaze me (especially since I can barely build a basic Lego car)!

Thanks, mom and dad for the gift card for Emma's birthday! Both girls truly enjoyed it! xo

On Veterans Day

On this Veterans Day we would like to take the time to thank all of those who have served our country. We extend our deepest thanks to every man and woman who believed so completely and so deeply in our country that they would choose to answer the call and take up arms to defend our many freedoms.
Thank you, especially to my father and brother (pictured here at the Memorial Day parade in 2013), as well as to both of my grandfathers and my uncles, who believed so fiercely in this country that they would be willing to risk their lives for it. It is because of the service of patriots like you that America continues to remain a beacon of hope and freedom. xo

At The Veterans Day Parade

It was a glorious day for a parade! The weather was a wee bit chilly but nothing that some gloves and hats couldn't fix (colder weather is on its way for later this week they say). To be able to honor the men and women who have served our great country is something that we never pass up the chance to do. Marching in the parades is such a simple act but such a great way to show our appreciation to those who make it possible for freedom to ring throughout the land.  It was during the parade today that we learned that Marlborough is home to the only Women Veterans Monument outside of Washington D.C.! How neat is that?! As Veterans Day comes to a close we want to take a moment to honor all veterans, especially the veterans within our family and our circle of friends. It is with grateful hearts that we thank each of you -and to your families- for your service to our country. Our love, appreciation and support is with you always! xo

Last Day Of Dance Class

This week is the last week of dance class at the studio. Rehearsals for the recital are next week so we figure that with this being the last class at the studio this week it was the perfect time to make and give thank-you gifts to the girls teacher.
Grace and Emma found Fuchsia plants at Russell's over the weekend and since they think that the flowers look like little ballerinas (they are totally right) they decided that this is what they would give Miss Lauri.
And since they were giving her potted flowers they figured it only made sense to paint pots to put the flower in.
And paint they did!
When the pots were dry they got to work planting.
And watering.
Cards were made too, of course.

And then it was time for Grace to head to her last studio class.
Crazy how fast this year has gone.
And Emma the next day.
She wanted her last day picture taken at home.
But I had to get one of her with her class too!

It was fun to watch the girls give Miss Lauri the gifts they had made for her. She was very surprised and I do believe very honored to have two such thoughtful gifts bestowed upon her this week. It's been an amazing year and we are all looking forward to seeing the girls perform in the upcoming recital. It is sure to be a fabulous day!
