Strawberry Social

A little rain and chill wasn't going to keep us (and many others) from enjoying some delicious strawberry shortcake, wonderful music, strawberry picking (though we have plans to go back on Tuesday) and lawn games at our favorite farm! We are New Englanders, after all, and we are a hearty bunch! The strawberry social was truly lovely and we do so hope that it becomes an annual event! xo

CSA Strawberry Social

Today we went to the farm where we have our CSA (which stands for Community Supported Agriculture for those who are not familiar with the term).  We have had a farm share at Hanson's Farm since they started their CSA three years ago. It has been such a wonderful experience and each year when CSA season ends we cannot wait until the next season begins!  We were thrilled to head back today for the strawberry social and to hear about all the wonderful goodies that await us this year!

CSA Strawberry Social!

We are so excited that another CSA season is upon us!  Today was the strawberry social at Hanson's Farm where we have our CSA share, and even though it was pouring out when we left

and when we arrived at the farm, our spirits could not be dampened.

As Farmer Hanson gave his welcome speech, the rain stopped and sun tried to come out.

After his speech was done it was time for strawberry shortcake made by Mrs. Hanson!

Eating strawberry shortcake is serious business.

And for those who are not fans of strawberries (David), you can have just cake and whipped cream!

The girls were thrilled to be back at the farm.

They truly are country girls, and really would love it if we had like 10 acres of land and lots of animals.

After we were done with our shortcake, Farmer and Mrs. Hanson invited everyone to pick a quart of berries to kick off the new CSA season.  Every week we are fortunate enough to have a U Pick portion to our CSA (and a flower share too).  Some weeks it's strawberries, some weeks it's snap peas or raspberries or cherry tomatoes.
It's always so fun to get in the fields and gather something to add to our bags.

The above sign says it all!  Let the new CSA season begin!  We are super excited to pick up our first bag this Tuesday!
If you don't have a CSA share we highly recommend tying it out. You'll be glad you did, and so will your local farm family.  To find a CSA near you check out Local Harvest.

Sleep well, dear friends.
We'll see you tomorrow.
