Celebrating Emma's Half Birthday

Emma's birthday in February was fabulous but given that Covid numbers were high and she had a winter birthday we decided to hold off on a gathering with her friends until her half birthday in August. If nothing else, we figured it would be easier to be outside in the summer! And so, on Friday, we held our first ever sleepover here. We chose to keep it small, inviting four of her closest friends. Two joined us for the overnight and the other two joined us for breakfast today (her actual half birthday).

Emma put together "spa night kits" for her friends. In them she put the nail polish you see in front, a washcloth a face mask, toe separators for pedicures, and one of the beautiful cookies you see below!

My dear friend Sade made these gorgeous cookies for Emma's party! Aren't those s'mores the cutest thing you've ever seen?!
The overnight crew.

Hamilton....of course!

Preparing the table for breakfast this morning.

And now there are six!

A delicious waffle breakfast was the cherry on top of the sunade of Emma's half birthday! She has some of the sweetest friends and I am so glad that we waited for the first sleepover until now! It was absolutely fabulous and the perfect way to celebrate our sweet girl! xo

"They're About To Say I Do..."

"Three little letters, two little words.
It's the simplest part of the day, but there's nothing simple about the thing that will remain unsaid.
"I do" means, I do know that I could be hurt, but I am ready to be healed with you.

It means I do want to try, even when the fear of failure holds me back and I do not know the future but I am ready to be surprised along the way.

And "I do" means I do want your love,
and I do give you mine,
and nothing we do will ever be the same,

because you and I will be doing it all together."
-The Good Witch (season three finale)

I have loved that piece from The Good Witch ever since I first heard it. And had it been out before our wedding I am sure we would have had it read during the ceremony.

These nineteen years have passed quickly by. And while they have not all been perfect, they have all been ours. We have navigated the rough waters and come out stronger in the end and for that I am grateful. We have created two of the most incredible souls together and stand in awe of the young women they have become. We have laughed together, cried together, watched dreams be achieved together and mourned as other dreams never came to fruition. In short, we have live and loved so fully and so completely even when there were days that we might not have liked each other so much.

Here's to nineteen years, my love. Let's make our twentieth year our most wonderful yet! xo

Catching Up

It's been quite a summer here! With the girls doing all sorts of things (like dance intensive, camp and now the Revels Summer Theater Workshop) it hasn't generated many blog worthy pictures like summers of the past had! In an effort to share a bit of what we/they have been up to I figured it was time for a "catching up" post!

Jake arrived last Friday to spend just about a week with us! Needless to say, the girls were super surprised when he greeted them when they got home!

Pals.

The girls returned from Silver Lake on a Friday and Revels Summer Theater Workshop began the following Monday! While camp wasn't as fabulous as we all hoped it would be (the group of kids in their conference were just not a good mix) the summer theater workshop has been absolutely fabulous! The girls are learning all sorts of things about set design, lighting design and stage management as well as other fun things too (like stunts and music)!

This Friday will be their two show performance. I am sad that I won't be able to attend but as they are behind the scenes they are OK with it!

Last Night

Last night, Dave and I enjoyed a lovely night out at Gibbet Hill Grill. It was the first time we had been but it won't be the last! In addition to the cocktails and beyond amazing cookie sandwich we had for dessert we also enjoyed some corn chowder and shrimp scampi (for Dave) and rosemary chicken (for me)! Everything was absolutely delicious but that dessert was the star of the night! xo
