Advent Spiral

Tonight was the Advent Spiral at church. We were so happy to share this beautiful tradition with our church comminity for the first time last year, and are happy to be able to continue it again this year.
 Preparing the apples.
Such a hard working group of girls!
The girls and I were so grateful to have so much help this year! We couldn't believe when we were done in just under an hour! What a blessing!
Emma was the first to walk the spiral this year.
Grace was next. Walking the Advent Spiral is beloved by both girls but especially Grace. She has been waiting all year for this enchanting night.
Everything about this night is truly magical. The smells. The pretty background music. Watching as the spiral goes from darkness to light. It really is the perfect way to enter into the final few weeks of the year (and the busy days that fill the holiday season). We look forward to sharing this tradition with our beloved faith community for years to come. xo
Advent Spiral Poem

Deep Mid-Winter drawing near,
Darkness in our Garden here –
One small flame yet bravely burns
To show a path which ever turns.
Earth, please bear us as we go,
Seeking Light to send a-glow:
Branches green and moss and fern,
Mark our path to trace each turn.
Brother animals, teach us too
To serve with patience as you do.
We walk with candle toward the Light
While Earth awaits with hope so bright:
In the Light which finds new birth
Love may spread o’er all the Earth.
Deep Mid-Winter drawing near –
May Light arise in our Garden here.

A Snowy Thanksgiving Eve

And just like that King Winter has arrived and brought with him all the beauty of the season! It feels strange to have snow arrive before Thanksgiving, but we love it nonetheless and are always ready to welcome its arrival whenever it should occur. The world always looks so much more beautiful and peaceful when snow covered. And really, given the current state of things in our world, beauty and peace are things that we are surely in great need of. xo
