{This Moment} Visiting The Sheep

{This Moment} A Friday ritual. A single photo- no words- capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. If you are inspired to do the same leave a link to your moment in the comments section for all to find and see. We wish you a lovely last weekend of January! xo

In Emma's Main Lesson Book

This project, although simple, was easily one of my most favorite to watch come together. It was the perfect way to end the time telling math block that she has spent the month of January working on. While many fun projects were done, this one captured my heart the most. I was especially enchanted by today's entry (the autumn verse- which is one of her most favorites). Not only is her handwriting absolutely gorgeous, but I was totally in awe of how beautifully straight she wrote each line. I know that I was not able to write that straight on unlined paper when I was her age! She turns eight in less than a month, and I'm positive that I watched her grow a little more right before my very eyes today! xo

Grace's Jazz Costume

"Mama! Miss Lauri showed us our recital costume for Jazz today! It's red and has sparkles and this poofy spot that has red lips all over it! We have feathers for our hair and a wrist thing, too! Would you like me to draw it for you?!"-Grace

Take note that her hair is in a bun and her jazz shoes are on her feet. June cannot come fast enough! xo

Crafts With Emma

When I got home this morning Emma had a project all set up. "I have a craft to teach you, mama!" She was so very proud of the projects that she had lovingly prepared, and did such a wonderful job teaching Grace and I how to make them. What a lovely way to begin our day! xo

The View From The Twelfth Floor

The absolutely gorgeous view I had of Boston this morning from the twelfth floor of the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary  while I waited for photographs of my eyes to be taken as part of my neuro-opthomology  appointment today. The appointment was good, just very long, and it turns out that I am a very rare "albino nystagmus". Albino because of my fair skin and strawberry blonde hair, and nystagmus due to my very wiggly left eye. The good news is that my eye sight will not deteriorate, I just need return to MEEI for more frequent visits. I'm pretty sure that due to how excited all the doctors were to see something "very rare" (and all the photographs and videos taken and test that were done) that there's a journal article about this in the making. xo

An Artful Afternoon

We kicked off the second half of the Girl Scout year with an afternoon of painting yesterday! The girls all did a fabulous job, and it was wonderful to watch as each of their paintings took shape! xo

A Snowy Lantern Walk

The first snowfall of 2016 arrived last night, and as is our tradition we welcomed it with a snowy lantern walk.

As we strolled through the neighborhood we sang lantern songs and marveled at the beauty of the falling snow. The world always feels a little more magical and a little more peaceful when covered in snow and last night especially so.

When we returned home the girls decided that they couldn't possibly come in just then, and spent the next hour playing in the snow. It was a truly magical ending to another lovely day! xo

Yesterday

Another holiday show is in the books, dear friends! All of the stidents danced so beautifully yesterday! We were especially proud of Emma's cartwheel during her performance, and Grace's "line" during her musical theater class's performance. She hadn't shared with us that she had a "part" so we were quite surprised to see our sweet Grace step forward when she did! What an absolute treat! A quick costume change and then Grace and her classmates were back on stage performing an absolutely gorgeous ballet dance! Flowers from our friend Amy, and celebratory ice cream after the show,  were the cherry on top of the sundae that was yesterday! xo

Lunchbox Wisdom

Grace shared with me last night that she was feeling rather nervous about ski practice today (we think this was due to her having been majorly crashed into last week). With how she was feeling, today felt like the perfect time to include this piece of wisdom (which we love from the most recent Cinderella movie) in her lunchbox.

Dave updated me thoroughout the day today, and he let me know that she was doing great and having lots of fun! Both girls arrived home this evening very happy and just as tired- signs of another great day on the slopes! xo

On The Epiphany

The wise men have arrived! Christmas season is officially over, and with that our tree will come down tonight. These past twelve days have been absolutely lovely. A nice blend of time spent just the four of us and time spent with our extended family and some friends. Like Winter Solstice, I think I much prefer the twelve days of Christmas to (the one) Christmas Day. There's a peace to those days, dear friends, that is much more our speed.

To help bring the twelve days of Christmas to a close we began a new to us tradition today- we
chalked our door. I learned about this sweet Epiphany tradition last year from my very dear friend Erin, and had kept this idea in mind ever since. When Dave arrived home today the four of us gathered and blessed our home. It was sweet and simple and so very lovely- such a perfect way to end the Christmas season and fully enter in to the new year! xo

First Morning Lesson Of 2016

A little handwriting (by Emma) to welcome back morning lessons. We all agreed that it was lovely to be back to our non-holiday rhythm today! xo
