Today In Amherst

Today we met up with our dear friends, Patricia and Alice, at the Emily Dickinson Museum. It was a spectacular day for a road trip, made even more wonderful  by meeting up with friends we don't see nearly often enough! Pictures weren't allowed to be taken inside the museum sadly.
We couldn't pass up the chance to get a few pictures of the girls on the front steps of the Dickinson's homestead.
I love that they are able to pick up right where the left off and as if no time has passed between visits each time they are together!
After our tour and visit, we took a short walk to get ice cream before heading back home. It was an absolutely perfect way to spend this gorgeous summer day! xo

At The Scandinavian Midsummer Festival

Yesterday we attended the Scandinavian Midsummer festival that the Scandinavian Athletic Club in Shrewsbury puts on each year (and evidently has been doing so for 112 years!). It was a truly perfect day for a festival, and I have to admit I was a bit worried that it was going to be incredibly crowded (surprisingly, and thankfully, it wasn't). From the moment we arrived we were warmly welcomed and made to feel as if we had been attending this event for years. Since it was our first time there we decided to do a quick loop first to see what there was. We stopped by one shop and bought some of our favorite ginger cookies and two dala horse pins (one for each girl to add to the pin collections on her dance bag). We noticed the long line for Swedish meatballs (and agreed to check back on that after the line died down) and we noticed more and more girls and women wearing flower crowns. Finally we happened upon the flower crown making area and after getting the scoop and discussing it we decided that this would be the big treat of the day!

We, sadly, arrived after they had raised the maypole (the strawberry patch had beckoned) but we will be sure to get there earlier next year as it sounds like quite a neat sight to see!
Watching the Vikings be Vikings.
After the Vikings, we decided to head home but not before we shared the Swedish meatball meal (it was so good)! The three of us agreed that this needs to become a "thing" for us, and that we must return next year with David (who was unable to be with us yesterday since it was his weekend on call). Happy Midsummer, friends! We hope your celebration (and your weekend) was as lovely as ours! xo

Morning, Noon And Night

Morning, Noon and Night. Three little glimpses into our day (a truly perfect one!)!

6:00am

1:30pm

7:00pm

From kicking off my day at bootcamp with one of my most favorite instructors, to strawberry picking with my two most favorite girls, to the Scandinavian Midsummer festival, to the glorious weather, to ending our day with strawberry shortcake everything about this day was absolute perfection! Happy Midsummer, friends! We hope your day was just as wonderful!  xo

Strawberries For Solstice

Happy Summer Solstice! With how crummy the weather was yesterday (grey, gloomy, rainy and chilly) we decided to wait until a better day to celebrate with our usual trip to the farm for some solstice strawberry picking. Thankfully we didn't have to wait long as we woke up to an absolutely gorgeous day today! And yes, these berries are as delicious as they are beautiful! xo

"Will You Show Us What You Do?"

Last Friday night was the first of four recital shows. I was asked to help backstage (with the youngest dancers) and since the girls didn't have many numbers in this show (Emma had two and Grace only one) they came to help with the little ones, too. After they had all arrived I looked over and saw them gathered around Grace (and then Emma) and how in awe of the older girls these little ones were. I couldn't help but take a couple of pictures to capture this sweet moment. xo

For Years To Come

My dad made each of the girls this beautiful recipe box/recipe card holders this past Christmas. They have been working on cooking and baking and putting recipes they've mastered into their boxes ever since. Emma got hers out the other night to make overnight oats and it was then that I realized that I had not yet shared about these beautiful boxes. I just love how much they love them and I think it will be so neat for them to look back and see their handwriting from when they were younger (and what it changes into throughout the years)! My guess is that their children and grandchildren will get a kick out of seeing the recipes these boxes contain too! xo
