In Which Grace Graduates From Cosmetology School

 

In addition to yesterday being our 24th wedding anniversary, Grace also graduated from Collectiv! Students graduate the minute they hit their 1,000th hour, which for Grace happened on Monday August 17th at 1:30pm. Dana, the director of the school, shared with everyone in attendance all that Grace had accomplished, along with her GPA and amount of retail sales. Once Dana's speech was done, Grace's walk out song (Take on the World, from Girl Meets World) started and she was showered with lots of confetti and cheers! It was a wonderful conclusion to an incredible ten months!

Congrats, Grace! We know you are ready to take on the world! This industry is lucky to have you! We are so proud of all you have accomplished and know that you will continue to shine brightly and do amazing things! We love you! xo, Mama, Daddy and Emma

Grace's last day of classes means that she gets to wear a color other than black! Happy last day, Grace! We are so proud of all you have achieved and accomplished and can't wait to celebrate your graduation on Monday! xo

Scenes from NYC (and NJ)

 On Sunday we traveled down to NJ so that Grace could attend the International Beauty Show on Tuesday (for student day). We had dinner with Dave's parents and then got settled into our hotel room which had this fabulous view of NYC. 

On Tuesday, Dave brought Grace to the Javits Center for the convention and then came back to collect us (and his parents) so that we could head into the city to explore before picking up Grace and then beginning our journey home. We saw this when we arrived at Port Authority and had to take this in honor of my mom (who grew up in the Finger Lakes region). 

The Vessel is even more impressive in person! 

We stopped into the Shops at Hudson Yards and had some lunch.

It was a wonderful mini-vacation, though really I probably should have taken Wednesday (today) off too so that I could have recovered from all that walking we did in the city! Grace and the Collectiv group had an amazing time at the convention. We grabbed dinner at a diner in NJ before heading home, which was the prefect ending to our fabulous trip! xo

And then all the students and teachers got to cast their votes. 
Today the winner was announced, and Grace was deemed "the best of the best"!

Grace had orientation today and begins her journey into the world of cosmetology officially on Monday! We are so, so excited for her and love that she's following in her Gramma Terri and Great-Grandma Rose's footsteps as well! xo
