Saturday's Adventure

Free tomato day here we come! Old Sturbridge Village bound on this glorious day!
Hmm...perhaps heading to Old Sturbridge Village on a weekend that Brimfield is taking place wasn't the best idea....
 We made it!
A beautiful day. A peaceful village. A perfect Saturday. xo

Derby Prep And Race Night!

Last night was the 4th annual Powderpuff Pinewood Derby! The girls spent the last week preparing their cars (a glittery shooting star car for Grace and an heirloom carrot car complete with glitter dirt for Emma). In all there were 120 racers in this years derby. The girls all raced really well and everyone had a great time! At the end of the night three of the girls from our troop even ended up on stage- Skyler for being in the top three, Maya for "most realistic car" and Emma for being in the top ten and being awarded "most unusual car"! Well done, girls! We are so proud of all of you!

Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make the Powderpuff Pinewood Derby possible! It was an incredible night and we are looking forward to next year already! xo

{This Moment} Flower Girls

{This Moment} A Friday ritual. A single photo -no words- capturing a moment (or two) from the week. Simple, special, extraordinary moments. Moments I want to pause, savor and remember. If you are inspired to do the same leave a link to your moment in the comments section for all to find and see. We wish you all a wonderful weekend! xo

Planting

Last Saturday was the annual plant sale at our church. The girls and I helped out for a couple of hours and did a bit of shopping while we were there, too. Grace chose a fern and the Forget-Me-Nots and Emma chose the Poppy, a Canada Anemone and an Egyptian Onion (not pictured). Since the weather was so lousy on Saturday they decided to wait for better weather to plant the new additions. I didn't make it out with my camera soon enough to catch Emma planting her plants, but I was happy to get the one of her afterward, as well as a couple of Grace preparing a spot for her fern. The Lilly of the Valley and Hosta seemed to be happy to have some new friends in their garden (and we are too)! xo

A Visit With Uncle Grant

Yesterday after lunch I received a call from my brother. He's a student at SUNY Maritime College and he was calling from their training vessel which had gotten underway for the summer sea term (this is his third summer going). We chatted for a bit, and then he asked if I could call him back via FaceTime so he could show us around. I gathered the girls and the iPad....
"Hi Uncle Grant!"
The view from the ship as they made their way down the East River.  It was really incredible to be able to see the various sights as the ship sailed along. We saw many buildings, went under a bridge and even saw the Statue of Liberty in the distance! They could not have asked for a better day to get underway.
He took us on brief walking tour of the ship. It was really neat to see where he lived for the last school year, and where he will be spending the entire summer.

Oh friends, there really are not adequate words to express how truly cool yesterday was. I found myself, once again, so completely thankful to be living this incredible lifestyle. It wasn't lost on me that had the girls been in a traditional school setting they would have missed out on this wonderful opportunity and time with their uncle. He was so completely proud to show his nieces and I around, and to share with us the area that he calls home. Safe travels, brother. We look forward to hearing all your stories when you return! xo

On Mother's Day

Yesterday was my ninth Mother's Day (my eighth as a mama of two) and like the others it was an absolutely lovely day. Simple, sweet, with all of my most favorite things (and most favorite people). Since the weather was less than stellar for the majority of the day (and hardly felt like May) we didn't venture very far from our usual Sunday places. I only asked one thing of my people- ice cream at our favorite place after dinner. It was the perfect ending to a truly perfect day. Thank you, David, Grace and Emma, for making me feel like the luckiest woman in the world yesterday (and every day)! I am so completely grateful and honored to get to be the mama to two such incredible souls. They (and their sweet papa) make each day extraordinary! I love you all to the moon and stars and back! xo
