So This Happened...

When I picked the girls up from duo practice this morning they arrived at the car and said: "Check out what Ms. Lauri gave us!" I figured it was pins from their duo so was super surprised when they showed me these plaques! We didn't think they had placed at all and were super surprised to see that they had placed third in the 13-15 lyrical age group in their division! In non-Covid times awards are given out during the comp but with the pandemic still here changes had to be made. It's one studio in at a time and generally awards are given to the studio director to be handed out at a later time. Such a lovely and unexpected surprise this morning! We are so proud! xo

On Easter Sunday

Our Easter Sunday was absolutely lovely. Since our church is still virtual and we didn't need to be there super early (like non-Covid years) we started with Easter baskets. This as a first as we usually wait to check them out until after we get home from church!

Our very own Easter bunny really enjoyed seeing what was in the baskets.

And she looked so cute inside one!
All dressed up and ready for breakfast (followed by church).
It should be noted that Grace is wearing my glittery shoes!
After our yummy breakfast we headed home for church.
Putting the girls' Easter baskets together every year is one of my most favorite things (right up there with May Day baskets)! And the centerpiece on the table is another favorite too.

This beautiful bunting was made by my super talented Aunt Gail. It  was for Lily-Rose's house but Emma chose a different house design so could only use one piece. It looks so great in the kitchen so I'm glad she didn't need to use both pieces!
That afternoon the girls and I headed over to church for the flowering of the cross. It had been over a year since we had seen most of our church family. It was so fabulous to be gathered there, on a gorgeous Easter Sunday participating in one of our most favorite traditions. And though we didn't get to see the cross transform (which is so very powerful and magical) it was special nonetheless and a balm to the soul!
It felt very weird to take this picture without David. We really missed him/

As he was the one who made the cross it was as if he was still there.
Meanwhile, at Wachusett....
It was closing day (and Dave's last day as a Ranger as he'll be ski patrol next year)!

According to Dave spring skiing was in full effect and there weren't many people there but they still had a blast nonetheless! The Rangers and Ski Patrollers grilled and enjoyed treats (I sent along our favorite peanut butter cup cookies and brownies). All in all, a fun filled Easter day for all and a wonderful ending to the ski season! Happy Easter, friends! May this Eastertide be full of blessings and joy! xo

Happy Easter!

Alleluia! Christ is risen! We wish all those celebrating a most joyous Easter celebration today! I'll be back tomorrow with pictures of our day today. For now, I am off to enjoy some more family time (and carrot cake)! xo

First the Pain, Then The Rising

The Maundy Thursday service is probably our most favorite (as odd as that sounds). It's beautiful and reverent and solemn. I have always loved this service, and from the very first time the girls attended they did too. Since our church is still not worshipping in person it was another Holy Week at Home for us this year. And though we did not join the Zoom worship service on Thursday night we did make sure to commemorate each of the days leading up to Easter Sunday. After all, first the pain, then the rising. This year, we used this wonderful resource which had us use the Advent Wreath, albeit a little differently, which made for a full circle experience (and an incredibly moving one at that). Wishing you a blessed Holy Saturday. Easter is coming soon, friends! xo

In The Costume Department

Today we got to spend the morning in the costume department at Old Sturbridge Village getting Grace fitted in her Junior Intern costume! It was so much fun and the perfect way to start our day! This outfit, along with a shawl, scarf and basket (to carry her "modern things" in) will be picked up on May 15th, which is the first day of her two day training! We are so excited for her and can't wait to hear about all she learns and experiences during this incredible opportunity! xo
