Our Unplugged Weekend In VT

Our friends Justin and Amanda invitied us to join them at Amanda's parents house in Vermont this past weekend. We happily took them up on their offer.  We arrived late Saturday morning to this breathtaking view found right outside Amanda's parents door!
After exploring the town and some yummy lunch we headed to Ben and Jerry's for the factory tour.  Some of us decided it was a good idea to nap on the way!
Jimmy Fallon's Late Night Snack gets two thumbs up from us!  So yummy!
We made sure to pay our respects to the flavors no longer with us in the Flavor Graveyard before returning home.
The next morning we woke up to this:
After breakfast and some playtime Justin and Amanda took us to Allis State Park.  Dave was brave enough to climb to the top of the tower at the park and took the beautiful pictures below.
No sooner did he make it down the tower, than Emma asked to go up.  Dave decided to carry her and if you look closely you can see the two of them in the picture below as they climb the tower together.
Hi, Emma!
On our way home we decided to stop in Woodstock, VT. I fell in love with this town a few years ago (any town that has a chalk board for town announcements is a place we should live!) and wanted to show it to Dave and the girls. Since the girls had fallen asleep early in to our trip home we thought a stop sooner rather than later was probably a good call.

A weekend is never a long enough time to be in Vermont!  It truly is a little piece of heaven on Earth!  This small town girl loved being there, soaking in all the small town goodness that life in Vermont has to offer!  We are so excited to be going back at the end of next month of a very special friends wedding day (and I get to officiate! How cool is that?)!  Thanks Justin and Amanda for inviting us along.  We had a lovely time!

  1. Oh my gosh, this is stunning. This is just the kind of place I would love to take my girls. I have to tell you your unplugged posts have been very inspirational. Our family has adopted the term. We will often say "we are having an unplugged day". I look forward to reading them every week.

  2. Oh, Jess, your girls would love it there (and you would too)! It's pretty incredible looking in the fall too, so if you can squeeze in a visit, go for it! Woodstock does some pretty neat things the first weekend in December too, if you want to go during the winter. Vermont truly is the way life should be! :)

I am so glad that you have been loving our unplugged posts! I totally cannot take credit for the term, as that one goes to the blog that originated it (Beauty that Moves) which from that created the Unplugged Sunday blog that there is a link to in each of my unplugged posts! We had gone "acoustic" in our evenings (no TV, but music through Pandora on the computer) and when I saw the Unplugged Sunday posts on Beauty That Moves I knew we'd be all over that one! Isn't it great to go unplugged?! For as much as we love our electronics it's awesome to live with out them (and truly reconnect) too!
