Last night we had the honor of being invited to witness Sarah become the Worthy Advisor of the Newton Assembly of the Rainbow Girls. We have known Sarah and her family (shown in the first picture with her parents) for almost fifteen years. From the moment that we met Michael and Dianne all those years ago at the church we were attending (where Michael was the minister) we had an instant friendship. We'd get together for meals or we'd meet up at the summer concerts on the green (or at some other fun location) or I'd watch Sarah so they could go out on a date. We spent a lot of time together so it was only natural when Dave and I got engaged that we asked Michael to be one of the ministers to officiate at our wedding. It was an honor to have him up there with us all those years ago, and it was an honor to be included in such a special night for their family last night too.
Last night was also the first time that we had been to a Rainbow Girls ceremony, or anything Rainbow Girls for that matter, and what a wonderful first experience it was! All those involved in the ceremony did an absolutely stellar job. Even more impressive than the gorgeous gowns and tiaras was that each participant with a speaking part memorized her part of the ritual. It was a lot to remember and they all did such a fantastic job! The poise with which these young women walked, conducted the ceremony and spoke was unparalleled. We have no doubt that they will all do very well wherever life takes them!
Thank you, dear friends, for including us in such a special night last night. Sarah, we wish you all the best during your term as Worthy Advisor. We know that you will do a wonderful job in this new role! xo

I had never heard of the rainbow girls until I read this post so I googled them. What an amazing organization! It sounds wonderful.
