Fifteen gallons of sap boiled and two snowmen built make for a lovely last Saturday of March!
We still have about five gallons to go but that will have to wait until tomorrow as both the daylight and propane are waning. We've loved every step of this process and cannot wait to see it fully become maple syrup. What a wonderfully sweet way to end winter and welcome spring! xo
I remember reading about making syrup in Little House in the Big Woods but never really understanding what it looked like so it's lovely to see it in practice - I hope you get some lovely syrup from it - does it smell mapley while it's boiling or more like tree?
ReplyDeleteThis is so cool!! we have a local maple syrup festival near us next weekend. Can't wait!!
ReplyDeleteOh goodness Shel, the photo of Dave sitting and watching the sap boil is priceless, totally says without words just how patient you have to be with the whole process.
ReplyDeleteSo happy you guys have enjoyed it, it is definitely a highlight in our yearly rhythm. Enjoy that syrup! xo
