Easter Planting

Today we decided was a good day to get our hands dirty and plant the Easter basket grass.  We did this for the first time last year and loved it.  So much better than that icky plastic stuff and as an added bonus our sweet kitty cat can nibble away on it!
Next up was creating our own Lenten Garden. I had seen this in the latest issue of Rhythm of the Home and thought it was such a sweet idea. In the past we have never really done much with Lent here in our home. I was raised in the UCC. Dave was raised Roman Catholic. His experience with Lent is totally different than mine and much more what you think of when you hear the word "Lent".  When we were newlyweds we had initially decided not to choose one's denomination over the other's.  Long story short, that didn't really work out so well and in the end we decided that the UCC was the right fit for us and the sweet, little family we've created. Fast forward to this Lent and feeling the need to do something as a lead up to Easter. This project couldn't have crossed my path at a better time. It was sweet and simple and fit right in to what the girls are doing in their Faith Workshop classes on Sundays at church.
Each week we will add a little something more to our garden.  On Good Friday we'll put a caterpillar behind the big rock, and on Easter Sunday when the girls remove the rock they will discover a beautiful butterfly in its place. But shhhhh! Don't tell! That part is a surprise!
