Outschool

In which Grace and Emma take their first class through Outschool and learn about Impressionist art, as well as poetry and music from the Romantic period. Pardon the quirky set-up. Next week, we've decided to try a different location.
The class that they are taking is Tea Time Series: Impressionists Degas, Monet, Manet and Renoir. Today's artist was Degas.
The girls did some sketches inspired by his painting Racehorses at Longchamp.
Grace's (unfinished) sketch.
Emma's.

In addition to Grace and Emma there were three other kids in the class. One was located in Texas and the other two in Maryland. It was really neat to be able to listen to the discussion, and to hear all these different voices from different parts of the country! They talked about a few of Degas' paintings (the girls especially like The Ballet Class), read and discussed some poetry by Elizabeth Barrett Browning and listened to music by Chopin while they sketched. The class voted on which of Degas painting's they'd like to use as their sketch inspiration, which I thought was pretty cool! They had such a blast and are looking forward to next week's class (which will focus on Monet)! xo
