This past weekend the new Legoland Discovery Center in Boston opened it's doors. With it being the holiday weekend- in addition to opening weekend- we decided we'd pass on going then and wait to check it out the day after (when everyone was back at work and school). Our brilliant idea totally paid off as the place was not at all crowded and the lines were non-existent. Here Dave, Grace and Emma pose with Tessie the Giraffe (and yes, she is made of one ton of Lego bricks and stands 20 feet tall)! Aren't her eyelashes adorable?!
Old North Church and Paul Reever's house made out of Legos.
The bridge and Boston Garden.
Look at all the mini-figs!
Dave builds while in Olivia's house.
We saw a Lego Chima movie.
Grace walks through the play space.
The girls got such a kick out of this ice cream sundae!
Grace in Olivia's house.
Singing karaoke in Olivia's house.
Building cars to race.
In the Master Builder class. Each Legoland is staffed by a Master Builder and his team. Classes are taught every few hours. But be aware, if you attend this class you don't get to bring your creation home. Given the ticket price (and the fact that the girls have been to free builds at Toys R Us where you get to take your creation home) we were very surprised by this.
We had a great time and were so happy we were able to be there today! From the moment we arrived the staff told us that we totally chose the right day to come. They shared with us that the weekend had been bursting to the seams with people and so it was a lovely change of pace for them today to have a much, much, much smaller crowd! We're pretty sure that all in attendance (or at least the good majority of people there) were homeschoolers!
And, the cherry on top of the sundae was running into my friend Kelly! We hadn't seen each other (outside of Facebook) in at least a year and it was such a treat to get to see her and her lovely family again today! It truly made the day even more fabulous than it already was!
