Raspberries

Last week peaches, today raspberries!
We met up with some fabulous like minded friends for a lovely day spent at the orchard today.
There was endless chatting, lots of playing and some fruit picking. It was divine!
These berries are as delicious as they are gorgeous.
Oh, and we grabbed another tray full of peaches while we were there too. The berries are practically gone already but the peaches will become some very yummy cobbler this weekend!

In Search Of Our Tribe

We are in search of our tribe.  While we have been an unschooling family since the day Grace was born, and while we are blessed with some really amazing and wonderfully supportive friends, we are still looking for other like minded, unschooling families to connect with.  All of our closest and dearest friends children attend school, and while that has never been a problem for them or us, as more and more of the girls friends head to school, the need to connect with those who will be around when we are is becoming more apparent as time goes on.  We want them to have all kinds of friends from all kinds of families and we also want them to have friends who live this wonderful lifestyle like we do too.

Last week, I was sharing our struggle to connect with other unschooling families near us with my friend Jean and she came up with the idea to get a whole bunch of us who have littles around the same age together at her house for a potluck and playdate.  We arrived at Jean's today and were warmly welcomed by the amazing mamas and littles who were in attendance.  It took no time at all to feel like a part of the group.  Grace took off right away, exploring, discovering and connecting, while Em took a little while longer to warm up.  Once both girls were totally comforatable you never would have known that they had not grown up with the other kids there.  Everyone blended beautifully.  Played beautifully.  Lived beautifully.  I spent so much time chatting with the other mamas that it was hard to believe how quickly the time passed (and how few pictures I took)!  It was a glorious day with glorious friends full of wonderful possibilities for the future!

Getting the girls to leave when it was time to head home was almost impossible.  Chorus' of  "One more minute! No, five more minutes!  No, a hundred more minutes!"  were heard from both girls and their new found friends.  Once we were in the car on the way home, the excitement that radiated from them was enough to power a small village.  They kept saying what fun they had and asking when we can all play together again.  Clearly, the girls have found their tribe! Thank you, Jean and the rest of the Heart Rockin' Family for opening up your home and welcoming us so warmly into this amazing world.  We are eternally grateful!
