Pride

We spent the better part of Saturday in Boston at the Pride parade. It was glorious to be able to join with others from our beloved faith community (both Plymouth Church and other member churches within the MA UCC) as well as countless other groups in support of the LGBTQ community. Our day started with worship at Old South Church where Senator Elizabeth Warren and Pastor Judy Hanlon were honored and gave wonderful speeches. Afterward, we made our way to the MA UCC section and waited for the parade to begin. Once the parade began we were treated to Boston in all her rainbow glory and easily the best crowd of parade goers I've ever seen. Everyone was so happy and supportive and encouraging that it made the long walk in the (gentle) rain all the easier! The girls had a fabulous time handing out candy as they walked along. By the time we reached the end we were all happily tired and ready to head home.

Sadly, for all the joy and happiness that Saturday brought with it, it was shattered by the news out of Orlando on Sunday about the horrific events at Pulse nightclub in the early morning hours. Our hearts are broken but our spirit is not. We will continue to stand up and support our friends, family members and the entire LGBTQ community in the wake of this senseless tragedy. Friends, I know I've said it a thousand times on Facebook and Instagram and I will say it (at least) a thousand more: We in the UCC truly mean it when we say "all are welcome here." If you need a safe place to go or someone to listen, please know that if you find your closest UCC church (especially one who is listed as Open And Affirming) you will be safe and welcome there. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those who are affected by this tragedy. xo

From Start To Finish

Last Wednesday we visited the starting line (they had just finished painting it) and yesterday we visited the finish line. While it won't take the runners nearly that long to finish the marathon today were thrilled to be able to take the girls to see both locations just a few days apart from each other. I had hoped to score a better picture of the finish line but seeing how it was the day before the marathon (and a beautiful day out too) the finish line was rather crowded. And truly, for how crowded the finish line was I'm impressed we came away with this a picture this good!

To all those running today we wish you an easy 26.2. May the rain hold off until the last runner has crossed the finish line and may you all remember that you are Boston Strong! xo

The Graduate

On Saturday my amazing sister graduated from the Boston Architectural College with a degree in Interior Design.  The ceremony was held at the gorgeous Old South Church in Boston, which clearly chosen for it's architecture!
After the ceremony and requisite pictures, we piled into the limo and headed to Providence to meet up with Dave and the girls.  We decided not to subject them to their first graduation ceremony yet since graduations are, single handedly, one of the most boring things ever created.  It was in Providence that we would celebrate with delicious food and a night of fun!
The girls had their first limo ride on Saturday. Nothing like some fabulous pink carseats a limo!  I don't think they were sure what to make of it at first.  Em kept saying: "Wow!  That's a long car!"
Graduation dinner was, of course, held at The Dorrance.  Not only is it Kait's favorite place but it's Grace's too ("Mama, this place looks like a palace!")
And after dinner, it was off to waterfire (our first time seeing this magnificent sight) before we called it a night and headed home.
It was a spectacular end to a truly glorious day!
