Happy Palm Sunday

We had a very quiet Palm Sunday today. The weather wasn't great (grey, chilly and rainy) and the dancers were tired (more pictures from comp day tomorrow. We did have ravioli (in the tradition of Dave's family's Palm Sunday celebration) and play games and enjoy some chocolate raspberry cake. Wishing all those celebrating Palm Sunday today a festive celebration and a blessed Holy Week this week. xo

Weekending

Saturday evening found Emma and I with an Emma and Mama night out! What a treat to get to have a few hours with my favorite ten year old! We went to the mall originally to swing by Hanna Andersson and pick up the cardigan we had ordered for her for Easter Sunday. We figured since we were there we might as well walk around and see what we could discover. Since it was jut the two of us, and since I knew how much she had been wanting to ride one of these rolling animals, I decided that Saturday night was the perfect time to make that long held wish of hers come true. As we turned the corner near where the rolling animals were and as if on cue she said to me: "Oh I would love to ride on one of those someday! It looks so fun!" She could not believe her ears when I replied: "Well, how about tonight?!" That smile didn't leave her face the entire time!
While we were at the Natick Mall, Grace was attending Newton Assembly's Rainbow Girls meeting. While Natick didn't get to steal back the pot of gold all the girls did get to meet some of the Newton firefighter who responded to the fire alarm that went off during the meeting as a result of the Masons cooking in the kitchen!
Sunday saw the four of us actually going to church together for the first  time in months! It helps that  that Dave no longer works at Williams-Sonoma and that the ski team season is over of course. It was such a lovely worship service and the perfect way to kick off Holy Week.
We scooted out of church super fast yesterday (so fast that I didn't get to say hello to anyone!) so that these three could get in one final day at the mountain together! The skiing was pretty good, I hear. With them at the mountain I had a chance to make sure that we have everything for the girls' Easter baskets for next Sunday. We do (yay!), and I  have to admit that these baskets may be my most favorite yet (which I'm pretty sure I say every year)!

We hope that each of you had as wonderful of a weekend as we did, and that those who celebrate have a blessed Holy Week this week!  xo

An Afternoon Adventure

Yesterday, after church, my mom, the girls and I went in to Cambridge to attend the Ice Chips show. Last fall, at the church auction, friends of our from church won tickets to see the show, but a few weeks ago they discovered that they could not attend. We adopted the tickets from them, and asked my mom (who loves ice skating and Broadway music) if she'd like to join us since Dave was working this entire weekend.

Lyida and David (who had donated the tickets to the auction) sent us all sorts of wonderful info about the show, along with tips of what to bring/expect/be prepared for. We would be sitting in the very front row after all! And after yesterday I can safely say there is nothing like hearing the blades on the ice as people skate by! It's truly an incredible sound and experience!

Thanks to Lydia's incredible directions we found the rink easily. We made our way to our seats and then went off to find the VIP Lounge. While we were having a bite to eat before the show David (of Lydia and David) stopped by to welcome us and answer any questions we had. After our visit with David we made our way back to our (amazing!) seats and waited for the show to begin.

Never before had we sat that close to anything (much less to people figure skating). It was as if we were right on the ice with them! The show was absolutely wonderful, and all of the performers were amazing! Our favorite groups were definitely the synchronized skating teams. They were truly amazing and we can totally see why they are medal winning teams!

Everything about yesterday was truly lovely. From the weather to the company to the wonderful show and VIP treatment! Thank you Sydney, Vernon, Lydia and David. It was a truly fabulous day, and we are so very grateful to have had the chance to have this experience! xo

On Palm Sunday

The girls are all dressed up to sing with the Cherub Choir during today's worship service. For this picture they asked to stand near the nature table since it has pussy willow on it, which we recently learned from our friend the Greek Priest is something that many Orthodox faiths use during Palm Sunday. While we're not Orthodox we do love Pussy Willow so of course we had to go hunt some down and add it to our nature table in honor or Spring and Palm Sunday.
The palms we received at church today. Dave was bummed that they were whole branches rather than singular leaves. "We can't make them into crosses now." he pointed out. We've been together for fifteen years and I had no idea he knew how to do that!
