Pumpkin Carving
And just like that it's the end of the month and time to carve pumpkins! The necessary supplies were collected, designs created and pumpkins prepared. It wasn't long before we had an absolutely perfect Jack-O-Lantern and three lovely fairy houses! Happy almost Halloween, friends! Enjoy the final few days of October! xo

Leaf Hedgehogs
With all the gorgeous autumn leaves that have fallen (and collected by our nature loving girls) I had been trying to think of a fun craft to do with them. Thanks to a post the girls and I saw on Facebook it was decided that leaf hedgehogs must be made! A quick Google search produced this template and then they were off creating. Such a sweet autumn craft and just the thing we needed to showcase all those lovely leaves! xo

Weekending
Oh, friends, we had such a lovely weekend! The weather was glorious and it was one of those weekends that was such a lovely balance of work and play. Our weekend began with a trip to Drumlin Farm for their Tales of the Night event. We had never been before but with the promise of 100 jack-o-lanterns how could we pass it up? The jack-o-lanterns were amazing and the Nursery Rhyme trail was pure fun! Saturday was full of chores and knitting. The final harvest took place and the gardens were put to bed for the winter. Dave worked more on the fence while the girls and I cleaned all the windows. And in between all the chore doing there was much playing and knitting- all done outside, of course. Sunday brought with it the finished fence, pumpkin picking and pumpkin carving (but that's another post all together). Such goodness this weekend, friends, and we hope yours was just as lovely as ours! xo

Fence Restoration
There is so much goodness from this weekend that I can't wait to share with all of you (perhaps tomorrow) but today we're most excited to announce that the entire front portion of the fence is finished! Dave has worked so very hard to restore this fence and it looks simply wonderful (even better than when we bought the house if I do say so)! Our sweet old farmhouse seems to be standing just a little taller today with the second piece of fence completed. The side portions (and a gate) will have to wait 'til spring at this point, for now though we're just thrilled to have this stage of the project completed! xo

Jack-O-Lantern Lanterns
We made these sweet jack-o-lantern lanterns years ago and we've loved them ever since. It wouldn't feel like October without them on our table and their sweet glow at night. xo

Lego Americana
Yesterday the girls and I went to the Natick Mall to check out the Lego Americana Roadshow. And while these pictures are incredible the pieces are even more impressive in person! The hours spent and the attention to detail are all beyond compare.
"Mama, look! He's in there!"- Emma
I just adore this picture of the girls standing in awe of the Washington Monument.
Each piece was more impressive than the last.
And just when we thought we couldn't be any more impressed we happened upon this....
Oh my word!
There are no words to adequately express what it was like to see this one. It was simply amazing!
Eight builders. 1700 hours. Well done, team!
If you are local you have until November 2nd to see the pieces. Where they go from here I'm really not sure as I couldn't find a schedule online. What a treat to have this incredible roadshow right here in our own backyard! We've been looking forward to taking the girls to DC to see the monuments for quite some time now, and while this was a lovely introduction for them, getting them there to see the real things soon is definitely even higher on our list now! xo
