Emma's New Glasses

Yesterday Miss Emma Faith became the newest family member to start wearing glasses. At my recent eye appointment at MA Eye and Ear, Dr. Rizzo had asked that Emma be seen by the pediatric neuro-opthomologist since she looks the most like me. He was curious if my eye condition may be present in her as well (spoiler alert: it's not). Right before he made this request she had been saying that things looked blurry to her, so the timing of all this was absolutely perfect as David and I had been talking about scheduling an appointment for her already.
So, off we went to Boston Children's to get her eyes checked. They did all the usual tests, and when it came time for her to try out a pair of "practice glasses" (with the lens that she'd need) it was absolutely incredible. I wish that I had thought to take a picture (or even record video) of that moment. Watching Emma see the world clearly for the first time is something that I will never forget! It was truly remarkable to be able to witness that! Her doctor went on to say that her prescription would be very mild and only necessary for morning lessons or reading. She said that we didn't need to get her glasses if we didn't want to, but she'd send us with a prescription either way. After Emma's reaction to the world no longer being blurry there was no doubt in my mind that we would be filling it.
And so last night she gave her new glasses a spin. It's truly amazing how much easier reading is when you can see clearly!
"You know, mama, I looked smart before I had glasses but now I look even smarter!"
I couldn't agree more, sweet girl! xo

    1. Thanks, Kim! She absolutely loves them! We have to remind her to take them off as she really does not need to wear them as much as she'd like to! :) It's funny how much more she looks like me now! Everyone has been saying how much she looks like a mini-me now! :) xo
