Planting Potatoes

Thanks to our dear friend Sarah, the kindness of some local coffee roasters and this video we planted potatoes today! This is our first time planting potatoes, and we're super excited to see how this all goes. Our potatoes should be ready in the late summer or early fall but we'll surely keep ya'll posted along the way! xo

  1. We had great luck with potatoes last year! Right around the time the flowers started appearing, the potato beetles moved in. Lilah and I would hand pluck them off every day. But then this swarm of odd spiders moved it to the potato bushes and we never saw another beetle! It was truly amazing. We wished we planted more because they were the best potatoes we ever ate! Have fun with your garden and your gardening girls!

    1. Thanks Jess! We are all so beyond excited about these potatoes! Thanks for the scoop on the potato beetles and the spiders. I hope that if the beetles show up the spiders will come to our rescue too! Did you plant potatoes again this year?!

  2. We planted potatoes this year too. We're experimenting with planting in large containers - they seem to be doing really well already!

Thanks for sharing. I hope you had a lovely weekend.

  3. We put our garden in this weekend too. No potatoes tho. My husband used to have to plan rows and rows and rows and rows of potatoes in his grandfather's garden. He vowed to never plant them in our garden. He may change his mind in the coming years: less grass to mow lol.

    1. Happy Garden Day to you! Maybe he'd be up for trying the potato bag technique! At least this way it's not so many! :)
