Redcoats And Rebels

Yesterday the girls and I met up with my mom, dad and brother at Old Sturbridge Village for their annual Redcoats and Rebels event. It's the largest Revolutionary war re-enactment in New England (with 1,000 re-enactors participating) and truly is quite a sight and an experience. Dave, Grace, Emma and I had been before, but yesterday was the first time that my parents and brother attended. We arrived in time to catch the big Redcoats and Rebels battle at 2:00pm, and afterward spent some time exploring and visiting with the re-enactors. It was lovely to get to spend a beautiful summer Saturday strolling the grounds together. The only way that our adventure could have been any better would have been if Dave and my sister had been able to join us too. Thank you, family, for spending the day with us yesterday! We had a wonderful time and look forward to seeing you all again soon!xo

  1. It's one of our favorite events each year- I'm sad we missed this one! One of our favorite family memories occurred last year- we joke about it regularly. When all the groups were lined up at the end and they were saying which group came in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd and the guy started saying that one group came in 3rd then said "nope wait, I'm sorry wrong group" and named another group that had come in 3rd! There were many groans and laughs over that. Luckily for the group initially mentioned- they had managed to come in 2nd so all wasn't lost! ;)
