This is what happened yesterday afternoon when I asked the girls to use the water from their pool to water the plants! Simply brilliant! xo

Rose Ceremony Day!
For the last few years, it has been our tradition to start the new year of morning lessons with a Rose Ceremony. Inspired by this video, and though traditionally done to welcome the grade one students into the Waldorf school, we fell in love with the beauty of this new beginnings ceremony. Roses and notes of encouragement are given to the girls, and then we spend some time checking out the new materials that have been bought for them for lessons for the year. It's been two years since they last had new colored pencils so we felt that a new set for each girl was in order. "Oh, mama, there is nothing like new colored pencils!" was stated by the girls as they filled their pencil rolls with them and then used them to decorate the covers of their main lesson books . And Emma, who has been waiting for her own fountain pen since Grace was given hers last year, was thrilled to see she had one waiting for her today, too! It was a lovely beginning to a new year of morning lessons! Much goodness is awaiting all of us, and we are ready to see where the adventures take us! xo

Celebrating The End Of Summer
On Friday, we gathered together with our friends to end the summer on a fun and colorful note! With school starting again this coming week it felt like the perfect way to mark the unofficial end of summer. It was a lovely way to spend a Friday afternoon and even lovelier that our gathering was able to continue into dinner and dessert later on!
Today brought with it a sweet ending to the summer with the Back to School Bash at New City Micorcreamery (or in our case the Not Back to School Bash)! Ice cream, balloon animals, face painting and a family photo booth picture made for quite a fabulous time!
And just like that the summer has come to an end! Regardless of how your family learns, be it at home or at school (or maybe even a little of both), we wish you all the most wonderful of Not-Back-to-School and Back to School weeks! May this year be full of many wonderful experiences, many teachable moments and many incredible memories to last a lifetime! xo

At The Balloon Festival
Saturday morning the four of us got up at 5:00am to get ready to head to the balloon festival in Hudson. When we woke it was dark, and as we made our way to the field it was getting lighter, but the clouds were still quite present. We were hopeful that they would clear, and the sky would brighten, but sadly that was not to be. As s result of the thick, low clouds the balloons were not able to take flight. Nonetheless, we were captivated by the magic of watching fourteen balloons inflate! Such a lovely way to begin the weekend! xo

Fairy Cloud-Dough
Last Saturday, when the house was quiet and I should have been working on the menu and grocery list for the week, I happened upon this recipe for fairy play-dough that was just begging to be made. I quickly added strawberry scented conditioner to the shopping list and then got to work on the menu and the rest of the shopping list.
When Dave and Emma returned from Wegmans, and the groceries were put away, I gathered the few supplies needed (cornstarch, the aforementioned conditioner, food coloring, glitter (because glitter!) and the girls and I mixed up a batch of this dough. It's light as a cloud and absolutely divine! The girls easily spent at least an hour (though it may have been closer to two) playing with the cloud dough. Such a sweet and simple project and one that I am so very glad that I didn't write off as being "too young". 'Cause really, there is no such thing as too old for glittery fairy cloud-dough! xo

Henry
Last week the girls and I traveled to New Jersey to meet the newest member of the family! David's sister and her husband welcomed this sweet baby boy at the beginning of July and we couldn't let another month go by without some baby snuggles! The girls were absolutely incredible with Henry. They were total naturals and if you didn't know better you'd think they were the oldest of six kids (like they should be)! It was truly an incredible visit and is a time that the three of us shall treasure for the rest of our lives. Welcome tot he family, Henry, we're so glad you are here! xo
