One Last Time

Our favorite paint your own pottery place is closing in a few weeks. We went back this week since the mug that Grace painted last time we were there appeared to have something wrong with it (it didn't) and while we were there the girls asked if they could paint one final time. Since we didn't have anywhere to be (and there was only one lantern left) I couldn't say deny this request. We had the whole place to ourselves and had the most lovely time painting and chatting with the owner. We are super sad to say good-bye to PYOP Studio but we are grateful for eight great years of creating there! xo

Celebrating The End Of Summer

On Friday, we gathered together with our friends to end the summer on a fun and colorful note! With school starting again this coming week it felt like the perfect way to mark the unofficial end of summer. It was a lovely way to spend a Friday afternoon and even lovelier that our gathering was able to continue into dinner and dessert later on!

Today brought with it a sweet ending to the summer with the Back to School Bash at New City Micorcreamery (or in our case the Not Back to School Bash)! Ice cream, balloon animals, face painting and a family photo booth picture made for quite a fabulous time!

And just like that the summer has come to an end! Regardless of how your family learns, be it at home or at school (or maybe even a little of both), we wish you all the most wonderful of Not-Back-to-School and Back to School weeks! May this year be full of many wonderful experiences, many teachable moments and many incredible memories to last a lifetime! xo

Finished Products

 This past Friday we stopped by PYOP Studio to pick up the finished mugs that the girls painted at their first Girl Scout meeting of 2015. We we couldn't wait to see how they came out, and goodness are they gorgeous! 

We definitely need to have Grace paint three more mugs- one of this tree in each season. 

What a lovely set that would make!

Painting Pottery

 Yesterday after lunch the Girl Scout troop gathered at PYOP Studio for our first meeting of 2015. We leaders thought it would be a fun way to kick off the second half of the troop year. Everyone arrived excited to be back and even more excited to be spending an afternoon painting pottery. Mugs and seats were chosen and a hush fell over the group. 

The girls were so focused that you could hear a pin drop. The thirteen of them worked this way for 45 minutes straight. It was amazing! 

On our drive over Emma decided that she would paint our family on her mug. Above she is working on painting Grace. 

 Grace decided she would be painting a sweet spring tree scene. Since she had lots of room left after her tree was painted she decided to add a flower and a cloud.

 Emma's finished mug. It will now get a clear glaze over it and then spend some time in the kiln. We pick the pieces up in a week. We cannot wait to see the finished products!

 Isn't Grace's tree just so sweet? The pink, though pale looking, should fire up to a lovely spring pink. This mug is just so Grace. I think we may have to head back and have her paint three more- one of this tree in each season. xo
