At The Worcester Art Museum

Yesterday was our  first trip to the Worcester Art Museum, and we had a total blast! We wrapped up not one, not to, but four blocks (Ancient Egypt, Ancient Rome, Ancient Greece and the Middle Ages) during this trip! It was so neat to be able to get up close to so many incredible artifacts from those time periods. Our only disappointment is that the Higgins armory collection is very small (compared to when it was housed in it's own, incredible building). If the Higgins Armory Museum was still around (and we really wish it was!) that would have been the perfect place to wrap up Grace's Middle Ages block. Alas, that's no longer the case but the items at WAM did just fine too. xo

Ancient Egypt

This week we began a block on Ancient Egypt. For reasons that escape me now, I didn't get to this last year with Grace so the girls are working on it together this year. Monday we worked on a map of Egypt, yesterday was all about farms, cities (and city-states) and the Nile, and today the focus was on papyrus, hieroglyphics and some foods the ancient Egyptians would have eaten!

Can you figure out the words that Emma wrote?!
For lesson snack, they had dates, fig jam (since we couldn't find fresh figs and honey. The dates were a bigger hit than I thought they'd be! xo
