Viking Ship Project

I realized today that I never shared this sweet project that Emma did last week as part of her study of the Vikings (which is part of her middle ages block). I purchased this project from Teachers Pay Teachers and am so glad that I did. My only regret is that I didn't happen upon this project last year when Grace was  working on  this same block. It was really fun to see this entire project come together! xo

At The Worcester Art Museum

Yesterday was our  first trip to the Worcester Art Museum, and we had a total blast! We wrapped up not one, not to, but four blocks (Ancient Egypt, Ancient Rome, Ancient Greece and the Middle Ages) during this trip! It was so neat to be able to get up close to so many incredible artifacts from those time periods. Our only disappointment is that the Higgins armory collection is very small (compared to when it was housed in it's own, incredible building). If the Higgins Armory Museum was still around (and we really wish it was!) that would have been the perfect place to wrap up Grace's Middle Ages block. Alas, that's no longer the case but the items at WAM did just fine too. xo

Pretzels!

Continuing with Emma's botany block, we made pretzels earlier this week to explore yeast/the fungus kingdom. Last year Grace made pizza dough when we did this block. We thought it would be fun to do something different this year. As an added bonus, pretzels have a connection to the middle ages which was a nice tie in for Grace who's been learning about that time period for the last several weeks. Two blocks, one stone, total score! I love when that happens!
