Today After Church

On our way home we stopped by Moeshmallows brand new store front here in town! I have seen them the last few years at the holiday craft fair that NECC always hold and was excited to see that they had opened a store in Marlborough! The girls were super excited and we all had fun choosing which flavors we should try. While we were there we even picked up a gift bag (the one Grace is holding in the top picture) since it was made by the students at NECC as one of the vocational jobs they do! For those wondering, we loved all three flavors, but peach was the hands down most favorite! xo

From The Milkman

In this fast paced, modern world there is something so wonderfully grounding and calming about having "old fashioned" milk delivery. xo

Yesterday At Tree House

Yesterday we decided to pass some time before we had to pick up Grace by exploring the grounds of Tree House Brewing! We had been several times during the pandemic to do curbside pick up but this was the first time we had been able to get out, walk around and enjoy this gorgeous property! Dave had a beer and Emma and I shared the seltzer (made with butterfly pea flower). Both drinks were delicious and the vibe there was fabulous (so chill)! We can't wait to go back (this time with Grace)! xo

In The Enchanted Forest

On Saturday we surprised the girls with a trip to the Lost Shoe for their Harry Potter event.

It was only our second time dining in since the pandemic began last March. Dave and I walk to the Shoe every morning. They had the inside decorated as an enchanted forest. We had talked about going in December but never did, so when we saw that they were doing a Harry Potter themed event this past weekend we just knew we had to go! I am realizing now I did not take any pictures of the forest while we were there!

Dave's Butterbeer (and sample of one of the beers he really liked that they carried this holiday season).

Golden Snitches. You can't have an HP event without them!

Babies first soda (yes, for real)!
Delicious food, good company and a lovely night all around! We loved that it wasn't crowded and that we had this wonderful little nook to ourselves! The perfect place for our second time dinning out! xo

On My Birthday Eve

These gorgeous flowers and lovely book are from my soul sister/birthday twin Jannine for our birthday tomorrow! The girls and I had a wonderful time going to the flower farm today to pick up this sweet bouquet she ordered for me. The farm is about fifteen minutes from our house and run by the sweetest family. If anyone ever needs a gift idea for me I would always be happy to have a bouquet from Five Fork Farms! And I am looking forward to getting lost in this book as soon as I am done reading the Rachael Lucas book that I am currently working my way through! Thank you Jannine for always making our birthday so very special! xo

Shop Local

Our goal during this pandemic is to go each day and buy something at a locally owned business. It could be something as simple as a cup of coffee (like on today's walk) or a cookie or something more elaborate like a gift certificate or new kettlebells (both of which we have been checked off the list). We want to make sure that during this time of social distancing and staying home that we do our best to support local shops over the big box stores. Shopping local has always been a priority for us, but even more so now. xo

At The Dairy Farm

It wouldn't be holiday time without a trip to Cooper's Hilltop Farm for the best ever egg nog and a visit with the farm animals! xo

A Fairy House Fundraiser

Yesterday we attended a fairy house making fundraiser, and it was easily one of the best (and most unique) fundraisers that we have ever been a part of! The girls loved creating a mini fairy house, and the three of us absolutely loved that the proceeds from the event went to support a local organization called Fresh Start. Fresh Start helps people get back on their feet after a difficult time. The money was going to create kitchen bundles to give to the Fresh Start families. What a brilliant idea!
 Emma's fairy house.
 Grace's fairy house.
Thank you Lori for opening your wonderful shop for this wonderful fundraiser! We were so happy to be a part of it! xo

On International Women's Day

Our day began with the girls writing final drafts of the letters they wrote yesterday. Emma worked on the one for Elizabeth Warren, and Grace penned the one for Hillary Clinton.
They were so very focused and took such care in writing these letters. Their admiration for both of  these incredible women was very evident.
"Mama, I am so very glad that we did this! I am glad that we got to tell them how grateful we are for all they have done!" -Grace
I am so very proud of our two mini-feminists. They did such a wonderful job on these letters, and I have no doubt that this will be something they tell their own children about!  We hope that both Secretary Clinton and Senator Warren enjoy these letters as much as we did (and we are doubly hopeful that they write back)! Oh, what a treat that would be!
After the letters were mailed we decided that we should check off another item on our International Women's Day/Day Without a Woman list by shopping local, women owned businesses. We are always happy to shop local, and are always happy to stop into these places and visit with the ladies who own them so  it's safe to say that we were all about that action item when we read it! Decked out in red we made the rounds. First up, a visit to Lori over at Serendipity for a new fairy house and a puzzle Then it was off to Harvard Sweet Boutique to pick up some treats for dessert tonight. Between the two of them they had $5.00 of spending money left and decided that a trip to The Purple Violet and a visit with Miss Heidi would be the perfect way to spend it. They took turns choosing carnations, and we chatted with Heidi as she wrapped up our bouquet. As we walked back to the car Emma said: "This was so much fun! I love celebrating International Women's Day!" Of course, it wasn't quite over yet- they both finished their day at yet another fabulous women owned local business- Center Stage Dance Studio (our home away from home)!

Happy International Women's Day, friends! Keep celebrating. Keep advocating. Keep rising! xo
