In Celebration Of Summer Solstice
It almost escaped us that today was the Summer Solstice. The pandemic has us all thrown off and it's hard to remember what day of the week it is lately! If this was a non-pandemic Father's Day weekend we would have been at the recital all day today, followed by the Summer Solstice celebration at the Old Manse in Concord the next evening. But since it is a pandemic, and everything is shut down, that wasn't (and won't be) the case. Instead, I share with you, one of my most favorite pictures from the Summer Solstice Celebration in 2015. I just love everything about this picture of Emma and feel that it captures her (and Summer Solstice) perfectly. xo

At The Scandinavian Midsummer Festival
Yesterday we attended the Scandinavian Midsummer festival that the Scandinavian Athletic Club in Shrewsbury puts on each year (and evidently has been doing so for 112 years!). It was a truly perfect day for a festival, and I have to admit I was a bit worried that it was going to be incredibly crowded (surprisingly, and thankfully, it wasn't). From the moment we arrived we were warmly welcomed and made to feel as if we had been attending this event for years. Since it was our first time there we decided to do a quick loop first to see what there was. We stopped by one shop and bought some of our favorite ginger cookies and two dala horse pins (one for each girl to add to the pin collections on her dance bag). We noticed the long line for Swedish meatballs (and agreed to check back on that after the line died down) and we noticed more and more girls and women wearing flower crowns. Finally we happened upon the flower crown making area and after getting the scoop and discussing it we decided that this would be the big treat of the day!
We, sadly, arrived after they had raised the maypole (the strawberry patch had beckoned) but we will be sure to get there earlier next year as it sounds like quite a neat sight to see!
Watching the Vikings be Vikings.
After the Vikings, we decided to head home but not before we shared the Swedish meatball meal (it was so good)! The three of us agreed that this needs to become a "thing" for us, and that we must return next year with David (who was unable to be with us yesterday since it was his weekend on call). Happy Midsummer, friends! We hope your celebration (and your weekend) was as lovely as ours! xo

Strawberries For Solstice
Happy Summer Solstice! With how crummy the weather was yesterday (grey, gloomy, rainy and chilly) we decided to wait until a better day to celebrate with our usual trip to the farm for some solstice strawberry picking. Thankfully we didn't have to wait long as we woke up to an absolutely gorgeous day today! And yes, these berries are as delicious as they are beautiful! xo

A Summer Solstice Treat
Lemonade is a favorite in this house, and like most things we love to make it ourselves! This is our go-to lemonade recipe. Perfect on any summer day, but especially so on Summer Solstice! xo

A Summer Solstice Adventure
Yesterday, along with our friend/fairy godmother Mrs. Fadden, we celebrated the Summer Solstice at Tower Hill Botanic Garden. It was absolutely glorious out and the perfect place to welcome the arrival of summer!
Walking the grounds on such a glorious day truly was the perfect way to welcome the Summer Solstice in! Thank you, Jane, for such a wonderful adventure. We had a wonderful time and cannot wait to go back again soon! xo

Celebrating Solstice
All Summer Solstice celebrations should involve an absolutely gorgeous night, bare feet, bubbles, live music, lantern light and s'mores. We hope your Summer Solstice was as blessed and as lovely as ours! Happy Summer, friends! xo
