Today the girls spent the better part of the afternoon making magic wands and playing with them. They started out with one ribbon on each of their sticks and then quickly decided that they needed to add more. As they would add ribbons they'd dance around to test them out. After each dance they would add another and then another until they finally felt that they had enough. Once they deemed their wands "perfect" they returned to the elaborate story they had been absorbed in creating and playing prior to the break they took to work on their wands.
I love how they came up with this all on their own. I love how Grace had an idea and started to create her wand and then Emma decided that she wanted to join in the fun. I love how they helped each other and encouraged each other. I love how they spent about an hour creating them and many hours afterward playing with them! It just goes to show that given plenty of space and copious amounts of unscheduled time littles will always come up with something fabulous to do. It's the stuff of magical childhoods, my friends, and I for one am so very glad to be witness to it each and every day!
