I wish that was our sugar house! Nope, we're not making it but we have friends who are! This sugar house is actually at one of the local middle schools (amazing, right?!) and we went to check out the Maple Syrup event that they held last weekend! Such a beautiful evaporator!
DeleteOoohhh...that looks like like fun! I sure wish we got to experience that here!

They surely will! We make it a point to get to a sugar event each March! It's always so fun and the magic never wears off!
DeleteMmmm... maple syrup... I can't wait for this season's brew. We have been out of the golden marvel for a couple of weeks now. We go through 2 gallon a year (I sweeten everything with it!).
ReplyDeleteThis is our moment this week... someone broke into our closet!

Have a great week-end!
It seems that this seasons harvest is very bountiful! We have friends who built there own evaporator this year and it's got us thinking we may need to tap our trees next year and join them when they boil! Two gallons a year is great! Do you tap your trees?
DeleteWhoa! This is something new to me!
ReplyDeleteThis is all about maple syrup, right? Really cool. Thank you~
Yep it is indeed! That's a big evaporator full of maple sap that's becoming maple syrup! It's an amazing sight to behold!
Deletei've been reading your comments - SO COOL that the sugar house is in a local middle school!! what a wonderful education. did the steam smell sweet? i've never been near anything like that, so i can only imagine, but i imagine it would smell sweet. like a warm, maple syrupy smelling. like what i would think carealot would smell like. :-) thanks so much for sharing! have a wonderful & warm weekend!!
ReplyDeletehere's my moment if you'd like to visit: http://homespired.blogspot.com/2014/03/this-moment_27.html
We were blown away that the sugar house is at one of the local middle schools too! What a neat experience for the students! It made us wonder if each class gets to spend some time in the sugar house or if you have to take a course in maple syrup making to do so! It was mostly warm with a hint of sweetness in the air of the sugar house! It's definitely an amazing experience!
DeleteThis is one of my dreams, to get to check out a sugar house and learn a thing or two. Thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely make that dream a reality!
Deletewow! thats awesome! beautiful old cast iron!
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts exactly! It was easily the most beautiful evaporator we had ever seen!
DeleteOh so much goodness. I sure hope our trees starting running soon. Happy weekend Shel!
